This belief is held in some fantasy scenarios (such as Planescape in Dungeons & Dragons) and some philosophers.
In other words, some say yes, some say no. All deities have been silent on the matter.

I wouldn't think so. If you look into any religion it was the gods that created people. If we all stop believing i am sure their will be a huge flood or fire( remember Noah) and the gods will start over until someone asks this question again.

No but If I ever quit believing in god Id want to because w/o believing in god youre only not going to go to heaven.. I have had times that i didnt believe in him but like someone told me God will NEVER put more on u than u can handle and sure enough Ive made it through every trail I can imagine...Believe me these trials made me to the point of wanting to die or kill myself... so dont quit believing. Instead have more faith in him and pray to him

If you ever get the chance, see the original Star Trek entitled, "Who Mourns for Adonais?" (TV Land is having a Star Trek marathon in September.)
Any science fiction buffs out there know that your question is not new, but it's still interesting.

Somethings are true(or not true) whether or not people believe in them (or don't believe in them)....so Thor never did and never wil exist no matter how many people believe in him. There is no mighty hammer sadly.

One of the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett dealt with this issue. I think it was called 'Small Gods' and there was a god who only had one believer.

Awwwww that reminds me of how sad it was to watch Apollo disappear in that episode of Star Trek after he realized that he was no longer needed as a "god". That is a great episode, and no matter how hard I try, I can't get my hair to copy that awesome style that the main blonde in that episode had. It was probably a wig anyways, oh well.
