People with learning disabilities often need to be cared for. However, modern practice states that they have the right to do live their life how they choose.

If they make an informed choice to break the law (in this instance they want to smoke cannabis), should they be helped to do it (which would be assisting someone to break the law, and therefore unethical), or should they be stopped from doing it (which is breaking their human right of being allowed to live their life the way they choose)??

The problem arose in my last place of work (When i still worked full time). We had a lady with MS who was admitted because she needed full time care, couldn't get it at home, due to a diagreement between next of kin and carers (All of them). So she had to come to where i worked and some carers complained they could smell cannabis in her room, so it went to Matron who decided that this lady, coming to stay for a little while until her home situation improved, had to abide by the rules and regulations of the care home.

In effect she was told not to smoke cannabis ever again in the care home or else ... Be made to leave. This lady was not a drug addict, but found one dose of cannabis a day (In the evening) Helped get rid of painful cramps from her neck down.

It was two weeks before she got home, after next of kin finally agreed to keep her nose out of the home care team's good care and i wouldn't be surprised if she then swapped her high pain killers for cannabis as she had beforehand.

Her point was that, while on hefty doses of pain killers, she felt drowsy most times while still in pain. Cannabis helped her relieve the pain, sleep at night and feel better in the morning.

Research conducted on people with MS who smoke cannabis doesn't deny that the latter helps the person cope with the pain. However, in a care setting ... Charge nurses, matrons all cover their back with the rules book!

So indeed you make a very valid point there. I would never encourage anyone to take drugs if i would suggest that human rights can be denied too easily to those who are repeatedly told they should lead their life as they wish because they have freedom of choice.

that's an incredible query. Astrological compatibility is a comfortable project for me. in basic terms through fact astrology would desire to show that 2 human beings would be suited for the different does not recommend they're going to stay jointly or actually have a good relationship. through fact the situation of the sunlight, Moon, planets, and so on. are in basic terms impacts on the character and because upbringing, loose will, and ecosystem are the different factors in determining who you're then any compatibility analyzing is open to have something take place. that's the reason I continuously say no astrological experience is impossible, in basic terms through fact it shows that a pair is incompatible does not recommend they could no longer be thankfully married until the day they die. So I frequently stay far flung from those questions except they are particular approximately what they choose to appreciate and except they have sufficient archives. If all they understand are sunlight indicators i come across it somewhat ineffective through fact sunlight indicators recommend little or no in relationships as an entire. I follow in basic terms speaking approximately how their Moon, Venus, and Mercury indicators artwork with one yet another and concentration on attempting to coach them the place they could be alike and distinctive in those factors. i do no longer do synastry or Davison charts or any of the others. that's no longer my forte and that i think of this area is the place human beings tend to count too heavily on astrology through fact the be all end all and astrology ought to by no ability be concept if in that way. Skeptics like to get into this area in the thank you to "disprove" astrology and undesirable questions upload gasoline to the hearth reason they get solutions each and every so often which at the instant are not appropriate and supply those haters something to apply, IMO.

they should be stopped. if anyone is ethical at all...OR cares about a human life...they will stop them from doing something stupid or unhealthy. i think this line is drawn at that point. for instance if someone isn't capable of understanding relationships at all and someone is about to use them for sex you should certainly intervene.

They need "help" getting it... what does that mean? You drive them to the dealer? If you feel uncomfortable doing it, don't do it.
But, if (a) they are getting it themselves (without your help), and (b) YOU smoke pot or you condone pot smoking in others, then you don't have a leg to stand on.

The law is the law....wacky weed is illegal regardless of the mental state of the person smokin it. If you help them to smoke it then you are just as mentally challenged as they are.

i think a person cogent enough to make an "informed" choice would be on their own to score weed..a Dr wouldn't prescribe it to someone w/ a "learning" issue...

Every situation is different. Can they deal with smoking pot? Will it derail their already difficult functioning? Can they handle it? If so why not?

Smoking an illegal drug is illegal no matter how old one is or how challenged one is. It needs to be halted.
