If you're talking about Christian salvation . . . first they say it's free and then they say you have to turn your whole will and self over to God's control . . .

It's a bait and switch I think.

Salvation is a free gift offered to all. It requires confession and repentance on your behalf. Without those two elements you've not taken up your cross. This usually occurs when God takes you to the lowest place you can go and lets you see the error of your sin. You don't have to "give up" everything first. God will take away your issues in His time. Read the Gospel of John.

Silly question......

Salvation is free. Period.
If a sinner says it costs, it is due to lack of faith.
Salvation is not a credit or debit card.
You give up the sinful life. Not everything.
However the saved person, once saved, would not miss the sin.
So what does it cost? Nothing.

The only thing is costs is the sinner has to turn away from a sinful life and place all their trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. Then live for God wholeheartedly!

Salvation is the gift of God.
If it cost you anything, it wouldn't be a gift would it?
There is where the false teaching creeps in.
They teach that it does cost.
They can even quote a verse or two from the Bible to back up their claims.
This teaching takes away the true meaning of the sacrifice of Jesus.
It is old Jacobus teaching.
As I said before, He came from the pit and went back there, if you listen hard enough, you can hear him screaming.

Very interesting question, because it is free, but if you accept it totally, it could cost you everything, except of course your salvation

Its costs them their sins. Even though that doesnt seem true. I dont think some people deserve to be redemed. Hell there are some people who think Hitler went to heaven... and that if you repent you'll get into heaven. Those are some kooky guidlines. Hence why I dont really care about my salvation

Is it like....

"Hey everyone, God is giving away free laptops at Walmart, hurry before you miss out; those who don't get there in time will be destroyed immediately!!!"

OR

God may have confidence in a few humans to give them a laptop with the greatest mystery of the universe for those who humbly choose to accept the gift, and when they boot it up......It just says, please give everyone a big hug for me, and tell them that I do love them....Peace on earth, God.

It requires you to die and be born again with your will handed over to God in the process.

This is actually the big reason I'm not a Christian. Nothing to do with belief or non-belief. I simply choose to keep my free will.

It costs a person their sins (particularly their favorite ones).
