sounds like they are in a bit of a spiritual dilema - here's what I read in it, but could be way off base.
sounds like an ex-Christian who tried to repent of their sins and accept forgiveness but didn't sense any difference and felt that the religion they were accepting was lies so they have set themselves free from religion and surrendered to their "sinful" nature.
"this idol and endless recital/ For all my demons to applaud" is the religion which they feel they have moved beyond and are therefore free
that was my first impression at least, let me know what you think

What do I get out of it???
There is little punctuation so the reader can place them where they want (all subconsciously, of course).
I'll regroup the lines and add punctuation to show what "I" get out of it..."
