The mother of Jesus, Mary, did not assend to heaven. She, or her earthly body is still on earth. She was all human, but she was used as a vessel for the Lord. Moses was too, and his bones are still here too. Where, is a good question, and that would require a look into the ancient records of that time. Deaths were recorded, as well as births. The unimportant items were not recorded in the bible, and those that changed the bible, did it for political ambitions. Some records, in that case, would need to be concealed, since a world religious power is and was in power. For example, one powerful religion can't afford the public to know where Mary is buried, for it would come to light that she in fact had not assended to heaven as Jesus did. They would not have been able to exalt Mary as a queen in heaven, or the eternal virgin after she had other children. In short, the entire basis would be shot full of holes, and they would be exposed, and yes, it IS a pity.
More than most people even know.
I have no doubt, however, that on judgement day, that she will be saved, and eventually be in heaven with the others that died in the Lord.

The bible is of course not the entire history of the early Church. We have other early writings. It is the consistent witness of early Christianity that it did occur. There are two evidences of this that might be of interest. The first is that we have the relics of almost all early major Christians, except for Mary's which of course don't exist since she was taken up into Heaven. At the Church of the Dormition, the Church over her grave, there is an empty tomb.

The second comes from the Thomas Christians. In the 1500's the Portuguese arrived in India to Christianize it, only to get there and find the Indian people already saying the Mass. It turns out that Thomas arrived in India and was martyred there. According to the story left by Thomas, the Mother of God appeared following her death and resurrection (also called the Assumption and the Dormition) to him and sent him East as far as he could make it to preach the Gospel. According to European tradition, Thomas simply disappeared into the East and was never heard from again. Now the Europeans knew why. The first century Church in India was founded based upon her Resurrection. It was out of touch with the rest of Christianity for over 1000 years. It would be a strange story to make up since the simpler story is that Thomas walked East. It is also interesting in that it is consonate with the stories told in other segments of the early Church.

No one considered the bible the whole truth until Luther started cutting out the parts of the Christian message he didn't agree with. I would point out that Luther not only excluded this, he excluded James, Jude and Revelations as false books. Consider the source of the bible alone argument. He excluded around 10 books including the old testament books that didn't agree with him either.

If God revealed his truth and the truth is the same regardless of the time period, then the believers of the 6th, 9th, and 14th centuries who contradict him should be trusted and those that followed him with his man made beliefs of the 16th century should be viewed with extreme doubt.

It is the consistent witness across time that matters, not someone's opinion of what they would like the truth to be, or the bible to be, or the meaning of the bible to be. It does not really matter how we interpret the bible, it does matter how those passages have been interpreted consistently by Christians across time and place.

According to the Catholic Church, Jesus brought his mother's body into Heaven. Now, she had to have help so her rising is the Assumption as opposed to Jesus' Ressurection. The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is August 15 and it is a popular subject matter in Renaissance paintings (Titian did a great one).

Jesus's mother was a human being, not a God or goddess, just a normal human being. When she died, what happened to her body and soul is the same thing that happens to every Christian human's body and soul. Jesus loves his mother so much, yes, but he also loves all of us just as much.

Only the body goes to the grave. Not the soul. This applies to every living creature that has EVER lived in the universe.

You're right the Bible doesn't tell us. So we have to assume that she is still in the grave and will one day be in heaven after the judgement day.

15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17

She's waiting like the rest of us. :-)
