i dont want to deny the child because ive been there throughout the pregnancy everyday, but something in me is saying maybe its not mine. I plan on signing the certificate because i dont want to cause a problem in our household. Is there a difference between a private test and a test that is done through the state of florida? If there is a such thing as a private test, how much do they cost, and if i am the father do i automatically get put on support? If im not the father, will i still have to take responsibility for the child even though i signed the birth certificate? Please someone answer these questions, because i can pay for a private test, and will pay for it no matter what it cost. I just moved to florida from michigan with my girlfriend and i dont want her putting me out cause i have no where to go. I have no family or friends here. So therefore i will just wait and see if the child looks like me in two weeks. Please give the correct answers or links to florida laws and sites.

If you have any questions as to paternity of the baby, it's a good idea to look into a test. You can arrange a private one for about $100. Check your area for services. Even if you do sign the certificate, should the relationship end and she go to court for a child support order, you can file a response stating you don't know if the child is biologically yours and a paternity test will have to be done to proceed.
Some answers about child support in Florida can be found on the link below. Consider yourself lucky to live there because where I live, a fellow can be hit up for child support even if he's not biologically the father and just acted in place as the father.

if u have any doubts the baby might not be urs, don't sign it...in some states if u sign ur name as the baby's father they can and will hold you accountable for it. you need to consult a lawyer there, it's free for the first call. and also, there's a big chance that the baby might not look like you, at 2 weeks it's hard to tell, ok. i would ask for a blood test while in the hospital after delivery. to clear any doubts, if it is urs then it's going to be hard to try and explain to her why u didn't believe her to begin with..goodluck and God Bless...and also remember this..it may not be urs, but stepping up and doing what is right for a innocent baby, giving it a name and a dad. is far more better than blood.

If you sign the Birth Certificate then you are LEGALLY the child's father. There are private labs that do paternity testing in Fla. Just help her with the baby until you find out.
Here are some sites:

www.paternityweb.com
www.determigene.com
Good Luck

If you are unsure get a test. Just call a private provider and arraigned it. If she is unhappy with it, just tell her that it is for your protection. If you sign the birth cert and then find out the baby is not yours, if you want you name taken off it will take much more time and effort and MONEY.
Don't do something that is bothering you. Check first.

if you have doubts then you should get a test done. waiting for the child to look like you though..... there is no rule that says the child has to look like you my daughter didn't look her dad til she turned about 3 and she is definitely his so if you have a question get the test. if not you and the child's mom will probably always have tension

MOST STATES HAVE A LAW CALLED THE BASTARD LAW, IF YOU FIND OUT THAT THE CHILD IS NOT YOURS AFTER YOU SIGN THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REMOVE YOUR NAME AND YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR A CHILD THEY MAY NOT BE YOURS.
TEST BEFORE YOU SIGN.

depends on the state. many states give you a 2 year window to deny paternity (and avoid child support). It is *most* important not to let this test slide too long!!!

I wouldn't sign anything until you know for sure the child is yours. Signing anything always holds you to an agreement and responsibilities. It's easier to wait.
