Raising my children with a conscience. Letting them know that there are consequences for their actions, and that helping others and doing the right thing are just the way life should work.

Republicans are the problem, that is fact, Ralph Nader knows the problem. Ralph Nader will do nothing for America except help Republicans again. Those that have no clue always seem to miss the point. Neither party wants any kind of social change, the Democrats just want change. If you want more of the same "stay the course" vote green, you will get another Republican. If Ralph really was serious about doing the best thing for Americans he would support a Democrat and take a high Level job in the White House. There Nader would have at least a slim chance of effecting positive change.

Currently my passion is supporting the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. This is one of the leading state of the art children’s research hospitals in the country. It is where the desperate parents of children with late stage brain cancers, etc. take them. The wonderful thing about this hospital is that they take anyone who requires their services…regardless whether they have health insurance or can afford the services. All made possible by donations of caring people all over the country. The company I work for conducts pediatric clinical trials there and every time I hold a serum sample from that site for analysis, I just can’t help but think whose baby is this and how much longer does that child have left (if left without intervention). We are the most industrialized nation in the world and NO CHILD should have to face an untimely death because their parents couldn’t afford health care.

A low income housing development recently open in a good neighborhood. This allows low income families easy access to better schools and jobs.
It also houses some who struggle with drug abuse and alcoholism. Now someone is hoping to profit off their weakness by opening a liquor store directly in front of them.
I have written everyone on the city level to try to stop this. Everyone agrees that would be wrong however the distance test must be passed. Unfortunately this test does not include a distance between housing for alcoholics and a liquor store.

I am hoping that laws can be changed. So if this outrages anyone in Houston Texas please contact your city officials.

I am crossing my fingers and toes that I get a job that I just applied for that treats people with mental illnesses as if they can actually recover. I think mental illness is still such a huge stigma and the media sensationalizes situations and makes the stigma greater.
