After washing your kettle completely, mix 25 grams of boric powder in a large vessel with water and immerse your kettle in it for about 30 minutes.
Take out and leave as it is.

Next day wash the kettle thoroughly thoroughly before you use it.
Boric powder is not a poisonous material as rice exporters mix boric powder in the PVC bags with rice that is getting ready for shipping just to prevent the rice being damaged by insect..

What a lot of fuss over some ants - they are not poisonous, and they won't kill you. But most of the above suggestions will!

If you are not using an electric kettle, it should be no problem giving it a thorough wash - chances are that some crumbs or some sweet sticky stuff is attracting the ants.
Afterwards, keep your non electric kettle on a small rack set in a tray with water in it.

If your kettle is electric, it's probably the cord that's being used as an ant highway - inspect it properly, and if necessary change it or buy a new kettle.

If I were you, I'd try to go to the source of the ant problem - professionally clean the kitchen and block any entryway once and for all.

Whatever a drinking kettle is, the ants must think there is some greasy or sweet stuff on it and they keep returning. Get some of those ant bait boxes (poison that they take back to the anthill which kills them all) or call a pro exterminator. Look around also - the ants might be in your food boxes in your cabinets.

I had this problem in a warm climate I lived in.

I did a vinegar boil, then a couple of water boils, then I would
use it for the Kettle use.

Check under your stove top, you may find ants there too.

The long acting ant discs at 'Lowe's' really take care of the
problem, and very inexpensively.

good luck

Get a new kettle! Myself I wouldn't ever use a kettle that had ants in it! If you can't afford a new kettle... clean it out with a good cleaner. disinfect it with Lysol.. wash any the lysol with vinegar. then get the vinegar out with baking soda then finally the kettle is ready to use. If you still get ants.. check your water supply!
It's a total myth that ants won't cross water!

Get the lizards that are in the kitchen to eat the ants in your drinking water.
Do you ask yourself this:
Why does everything in my life have to be such a complicated disaster?
