I was told at about 10 I could possibly have an allergy to sulfur drugs when I got a rash after taking a sulfur antibiotic, I was never tested the doc wasnt sure but said better safe than sorry assume you have an allergy to sulfur drugs. At the time they didnt know I had eczema so that could have been the cause of the rash as you tend to break out when sick.

My question is should I refrain from taking prenatal vitamins containing zinc sulfate, cupric sulfate or magnesium sulfate or is that a different make up than the sulfur in antibiotics? The only reaction I had the the antibiotic was a rash, which they arent even positive if it was the cause.

I am allergic to sulfa also, same thing,rash's.... But take your prenatal vitamins, those are very important and it's not the same thing....Per chance if ever you get a reaction to vitamins, just look at them and start eliminating what you possibly think it could be, but vitamins are very important as your diet is through your pregnancy...

A rash is a sign of a true allergy, but the fact that you were later diagnosed with eczema could possibly explain the rash that you had. Just to be safe, you should check with your doctor about the prenatal vitamins. If you are actually allergic to sulfa, what may start out as just a rash can lead to something more serious like anaphylactic shock. And although it is important to take prenatal vitamins for the health of the baby, if you are indeed allergic to sulfa and you suffer anaphylaxsis, that can lead to your death in extreme cases, and that would obviously not be good for your baby. Call your doctor and explain everything just to be safe.

Dogs are more likely to have environmental allergies than food related. Grain free food will help only if the dog is allergic to the grain he was eating. Try a hypoallergenic food that is formulated specifically for allergy like California Natural, Wellness Simple Food Solutions, or Natural Balance. Grains like oatmeal, rice, barley, quinoa are consider very low-allergy. Corn, wheat, soy, dairy, eggs, and beef are more common allergens. You can have your vet test the dog for allergies to give you an idea of what to avoid, and can even put the dog on immunotherapy to treat. And yes, a dog could be affected by both food and environmental allergies.

This is definitely a question that is best left to your doctor or even your pharmacist, since they are supposed to be up to date on those things. The sooner you know whether or not those supplements are safe, the sooner you can provide the best care for your unborn child.
