If so, what is it like? What are the symptoms? I think I might be having them, but I'm not sure. It's hard to explain what goes on when it happens. Thanks.

Some of my symptoms are: rapid heart beat, sweating, nausea and then also the part I can't really explain... It's like I'm staring into space and weird thoughts come into my head, like a dream I had or something, and then it last like 15 seconds and then when it's over, I can't even remember what I was thinking about. And then I'm really out of it for a long time. See.. it's crazy stuff.

Panic or anxiety attacks are the number one mental disorder in the nation, surpassing even depression. It plagues the Starbucks generation since many panic attacks are triggered by too much caffeine. Although I have beat them through meditation and lifestyle change, I suffered the attacks for almost 15 years. They can be very scary.
There are many symptoms. They include shortness of breath (usually caused by hyperventilation), tightness or pain in the chest. rapid heart rate, numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or face, confusion, nausea and more. There may be a sudden and powerful feeling of dread, fear, or impending doom. The natural "fight or flight" response of the human body seems to be triggered for no reason at all.
Doctors can treated anxiety disorder. Many people respond well to certain anti-depressants like Xanax, Zoloft or Tranzene. None of them worked for me. My relief finally came when the doctor gave me Paxel. That was years ago, and I no longer need it. I have learned to stay calm and centered through successful meditation practices.

I have them. Mine start with a feeling of pressure in the arm pits and in the chest. I start sweating and can't get enough air. Always have to lay down until it passes. First time it happened I really thought I was having a heart attack or something, really scary.

These attacks effect everyone a little differently [as you can read in the answers].
My symptoms have included racing heart, chest pressure, ringing in the ears, extreme sadness, shaking, chills, uncontrollable crying, and more.
I suggest you get a complete physical to rule out medical reasons, then pay close attention to your body and how it reacts and when. The good news is they don't usually last very long. [Thank goodness!]

I haven't had one in a year or so, but it is like a heart attack. I can't breath, unreasonable fear, chest hurts, lots of crying, and shaking.
