Walking is an excellent exercise! You will find that you have a lot more energy and will be less hungry after your walks. You will sleep better and just feel better in general.
You should try to keep your pace as brisk as possible when you walk. Don't just stroll around the neighborhood. Walk as fast as you can and swing your arms to help increase your heart rate as you walk.
It's also good to try and vary your route so you don't get bored. Another thing that's fun is to try and increase your time. If it is taking you 40 minutes now to walk the 2 miles that's a rate of 3 mph. Try and gradually improve your time to 2 miles in 30 minutes or 4 mph. Once you get to that point you might want to increase your distance to 3 miles in 45 minutes. Challenge yourself and you'll start feeling really really good. I know, I've done it myself!
Walking is a good overall exercise and you should start seeing some results in your legs, hips, and butt as well as your tummy and arms. The important thing is to do it everyday. Be consistent and you'll get addicted.

you will be toning and conditioning your legs. You will have endurance and more energy. Your over all energy level will rise. Your heart will pump blood better. You'll feel better about yourself in general. The swinging of your arms will add tone also. I've enjoyed walking for many years. I walk year round every day depending on the weather. It is so very relaxing. It helps after a stressful day to take a nice long walk and just observe nature at work. To watch a beautiful sunrise or sunset. To listen to birds singing and watch squirrels and rabbits, whatever. It's a good time to reflect and to just zone out and fantasize. It's a good time to hear answers from the spiritual side. And the answers are all there as you're walking and paying attention to nature.

NO. You need to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. The 45 minute thing is not true, but don't over 60 minutes at a time.
Do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Good luck and stick at it.

Any sort of excesses is good for you. Glad to hear that you quite smoking I'm still trying!!! If you keep up a proper regime of eating healthy, sources say five to six small meals a day, and take the correct vitamins you will lose that stubborn weight. Don't get discourage though if the weight starts falling off less and less as you continue. The more exercises you do and the more weight you lose the harder it will become. (Sorry to be a downer but that's just the facts.) Don't think that if you don't eat though that the weight will still come off though. Not eating throws your body into a sort of hibernation causing it to think it needs to store fat. Good luck and i really mean it! To those of us with less will power than you its good to see someone is actually doing instead of talking.

It's a great start.
But hopefully you've met with a real nutritionist (i.e. someone who's a registered dietician) about your 'strict diet'.
You'll eventually want to add some strength training to your exercise routine. And- walk briskly enough to elevate your heart rate to provide that extra aerobic improvement.
You'll lose weight, have a lot more energy, reduce depression, feel better, look better, live longer.

Your leg muscles (more specifically your thighs and calfs) will become more toned, and so will some of your stomach muscles. You'll probably also lose maybe 10 pounds depending on what you weigh now and your body structure.
ALSO - - You should be very proud of yourself for doing this!! You're doing what a lot of people dont have the control and discipline to do! Keep on going and remember - - you're soon going to look and feel GREAT.
