awwwwwwww, i too know that feeling, as we lost our beloved Peke, Fluffy three summers ago, i dont think of the dog we have now, a sweet little minidoxie as a replacement for Fluffy;, thats not fair, but more of a happy, goofy, playful addition to our already wild and wacky family.........my sympathy to you........pets are sometimes our one true friend that we have as long as they are with us......they dont criticize, they dont argue with us, they dont want the car keys, and they are happy with just a warm place to stay......and they show unconditonal love to their 'owners'.

If you were really attached to your dog, then it is gonna be hard but as the time passes by it will get easier, just remember that ALL things are easier said than done... Here is a little poem for you that might make you feel better.. I'm really sorry about your dog.. I hope you do get to feeling better about it soon... I'll keep you in my prayers. God Bless....
A DOGS SOUL
Every dog must have a soul
Somewhere deep inside
Where all his hurts and grievances
Are buried with his pride.
Where he decides the good and bad,
The wrong way from the right,
And where his judgement carefully
Is hidden from our sight.
A dog must have a secret place
Where every thought abides,
A sort of close acquaintance that
He trusts in and confides.
And when accused unjustly for
Himself, he cannot speak,
Rebuked, he finds within his soul
The comfort he must seek.
He'll love, though he is unloved,
And he'll serve though badly used,
And one kind word will wipe away
The times when he's abused.
Although his heart may break in two
His love will still be whole,
Because God gave to every dog
An understanding soul!

Well my dog was dying and so we had to put her to sleep and we went for a walk down our street and that helped us clear our minds just talking about all the fun times we had with her. Sorry to hear about your dog dying, I know it is really hard but after a couple months you really shoud get another dog. our family is much happier since we got our puppy a month ago.

Time is the best healer. Don't be "bullied" by other to rush through your grieivng process. Everyone grieves differently; let your process take as long as it needs to.
If you're experiencing what feels like overwhelming grief and loss and you think you need some help with it, you can try the following:
UC Davis Pet Loss Hotline: 800-565-1526. The call is free and they can send you supportive material to help you through your grieving process.

I'm not sure you really do "get over" the death of your dog. We just lost one of ours 2 weeks ago. I think time heals all wounds, but you will always have the memories of that dog in your heart. We are planting a tree in her memory.

As time passes it will hurt less and less. Don't run out and get another dog right away. And I'm sorry for your loss.

Just the thought makes me sad. This might be an appropriate place to insert that saying: Keep on keeping on.

depends on how long ago he died... if it has been less than a week, crying is good, and maybe buying a new pet is the way to go... if it's been over a year... QUIT YOUR MOPING, AND GET BACK TO LIFE!!!!HE'S GONE.that is not for you if your dog died within a week.
