disagree

this is just another of the victim mentality claims that are changing the way the poor see themselves, and encouraging people to blame others for their condition, and to believe they can't help themselves

because poor people live in poor areas they are more likely to live near industrial sites, therefore, they are more likely to be exposed to that one kind of enviromental health risk

but there are many kinds of environmental health risk, and industrial pollutants are not the worst

and who WORKS at the industrial sites, the poor, or the employed, well paid chemical worker?

I would propose this thesis "Personal choices are the strongest determinant of who becomes exposed to environmental health risk"

Not necessarily. Highly paid executives may be exposed to environmental toxins in their offices (such as those found in new flooring), and there are many who are exposed to toxins in the air or soil where they live -- areas where there are residents of varied economic status. It's not just factory workers or others who have obvious risk who are exposed.

I agree. The higher your income, the more control you have over your environment, the more you can chose where you live, what you eat and drink and what you are exposed to.

This might be as high-tech as industrial pollutants or as low-tech as disease pathogens in drinking water. Amazing how few rich people there are with Bilharizia.
