This lady runs her home according to a strict schedule. There's a timetable for everything and she gets very angry if her family deviate from it, for whatever reason. For example: family members get turfed out of bed at 6am so she can change it, even if they're ill or tired. If anyone records a tv programme, she writes it in a little book and they have to watch it within a certain period of time. Another one of her rules is that no-one else is allowed to look at the newspapers or magazines until she has read them first. Her tastes in music, books etc, are the only ones allowed. Anything she dislikes is not allowed to be mentioned, or she gets really angry. Her poor husband is made to work till he drops with exhaustion and she deliberately gives her children food they don't like "so they will get used to it". Believe me, I am NOT talking about myself - I think this woman is sick, but I would like your views.

Hi Maggie - no it's not my mum.

Hi Zena - the lady is slim, average looking, but you have a point - she dislikes physical contact very much, and hubby has told me he worked all hours to avoid seeing her. Yes it is too late re the marriage. He actually left her some time ago. In what way might she get worse? A friend of mine suggested this lady had OCPD and may develop dementia if left untreated. The children are teenagers.

Okay, first what she doesn't have, from the information you have given at least (or more specifically, the things we have no reason to suspect). She doesn't seem to have bipolar, depression, borderline personality disorder. She's definitely not normal. She may have OCD or a personality disorder. The big question though is not "what's her problem". The question is "what is her family's problem" and the answer is: they are in a hostile, dysfunctional, abusive situation and need to solve it.
Worrying about the inner workings of her brain is pointless at this stage. She doesn't want help. After all, why would she, when everything is going her way?
The mentally ill person in this situation is happy, while everyone else is suffering and miserable. That's the wrong way around. To put it bluntly, it has to be reversed before any change is possible.

This woman"NOT U" is a very insecure control freak. She is probably overweight and ugly which she despises but can't seem to control. Her solution is to make the most trivial things monstrous and the enjoyable things miserable. Who in their right mind deliberately feeds their children food they don't like "so they'll get use to it"? Who in their right mind would make a person that is ill get out of bed to accommodate a linen changing schedule? I would venture to say hubby works till hes exhausted to stay away from the fat witch, he probably is getting a little you know what on the side, while MRS. Book recorder is writing down her recorded VCR flick, we don't want the beast to surface! She needs to get a grip on herself and find out why she is such an idiot so she doesn't drive the family away, or is it to late?!

Is it your mom?
Seriously, sounds like she has a definite disorder. She has a powerful need to control. Even going as far as to say control freak. IF everything you say is true, then, yes, this lady has a real problem and should seek help. Of course, because of the nature of the problem itself, she never will because obviously she thinks she's always right. Good luck.

She is a mean controlling person, and it sounds like very self centered...She may or may not be sick...but also,.probably the way she was raised has something to do with it...very insensitive of others feelings......The family should rebel or get into counseling with her...Very selfish, if you ask me...and she might just be a loving person...but of herself it appears...Too bad...she needs to get into some counseling fast before she loses her family for good..

She may be obsessive-compulsive, but it sounds to me like the husband has wimped out on his husbandly/fatherly duties and this woman is a first-class BEE-OTCH!!! I'm not saying that because I'm a man and I won't let a woman push me around; I'm saying that because she is being completely selfish and expecting everything in her world to conform to her point of view. Control freak, maybe? She needs to be smacked repeatedly with large doses of life in the real world, and her husband needs to grow a backbone and tell her she's not going to dictate his life and their children's lives to them.

It is called OCD, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and it sounds like she is Bi-Polar or Borderline maybe. Yes she needs help and so does her family. If you don't get help she will continue to get worse.

For her kids, this borders on abuse. I think you should talk to someone on behalf of those kids. Her husband needs to stand up to her and set some ultimatums.
