Normal intake of water is about 2.5-4 litres in an average adult
But this can increase to 5to 6 litres if you r exercising
kidneys can increase their capacity to excrete about 20 litres in a day and about 1 litre per hour
So if u drink More than 8 litre very rapidly(within 2-3 hours) then your kidneys may be overwhelmed and u may develop hyponatremia which can cause symptoms
Drinking 8 litres slowly may not cause symptoms
Usualyl your intake of water should be 3-4 litres

Organs would have to be capable of breathing to be capable of drowning. I think that is too much water, though, unless you are really active, either in sports or at work. About half that is enough.

drinking too much water, like people with diabetes insipidus do, can throw your electrolyte balance off and it can kill you, just like an imbalance from dehydration.
