It is called supply and demand, I have it and if you want it, you will pay my price.

Contrary to what many people think , consumerism drives up the prices of luxury goods. Necessities may stay the same, but things that aren't necessary for survival end up becoming more expensive. For example, I saw a pair of boots that are $900. This would support me for two months, easily. By buying these boots, people encourage over-spending. Here's a tip to anyone reading this: Shop at Goodwill. The money usually goes back to the community, and many times the things you get are just the same as what you would buy, but cheaper. Target gives something that is just slightly scratched to Goodwill, for example. I bought one of thoes cool leather game chairs there for $25. It would have been $65 from Target, I checked.

It's only expensive if it represents a high proportion of your income.

A £5 / $10 cup of coffee is nothing to a millionaire, but stupid if it is an hours wages!!

Personally, i think it's because of overseas trade. We are paying for the shipping of most items. also...brand names are always more expensive than the store names which are usually the same thing only no great name like GE, Sears, Tommy Hillfiger..and so on...get it?
