Hair grows for a number of reasons:
-Reduces friction on the skin (accept on palms of the hands and feet where it would do more harm than good)
-Filter bacteria (such as in our noses and pubic areas)
Hair grows predominately around the center of the body (from head to toe) since this is the area most affected by hormons.
Hair and mammory glands are unique to mammals.
Hair is a wonderful design feature built into mammals by a really smart creator.
Hair grows in a cycle (Anagen, Catagen, Telogen). The length of the hair depends on the length of time it spends in it's Anagen phase.

They are actually there to catch sent. I know it sounds weird, cause most of us take care not too smell and from those areas specifically. But it involves pheromones those scented hormones that have something to do with why people are attracted to each other.

We evolved from very hairy beings that had it to keep themselves warm. We lost a lot of it obviously, but I guess some stuck with us.
