I support the Republican Party, and their candidates most frequently because the alternatives are often worse.

I rarely vote FOR anyone as I think the vast majority of politicians are corrupt or don't reflect my values. It is always the Evil of Two Lessers in our system.

I'm more conservative than liberal, but I do support many interests on both sides. I am probably most conservative in that I support shrinking the size of government and getting rid of the socialist nanny state attitude where the politicians think people are too stupid to think for themselves and need to be told what to do 24/7. I am also very happy with the 10 year report card of Welfare reform which the elite media has conveniently ignored. Before you hard lefties start shrieking, Bill Clinton signed that bill. We still need more reform in that area, but we're much better off today than 10 years ago. I'm not against abortion, but I do think that partial birth abortion is murder. If a baby can live outside the womb and you kill it, you're killing a person, that's a no-brainer. I'm not religious, but I certainly support the right of anyone to worship anything they want. I don't support "gay marriage," but I have no problem with legal civil unions and giving marriage style benefits to those partners. I have had a lot of gay friends and as long as it isn't constantly thrown in my face I think it's their business. I think Iraq has been handled poorly, but we have to stay there until they can handle protecting themselves from the fundamentalists in The Religion of Peace. I think our forefathers thought very carefully about our Constitution before adopting it and they didn't think it was a "living document." It shouldn't be "interpreted" (read perverted/subverted) by activist judges and if something is important enough to need changing then amend it, but don't just make up things that aren't there and pretend that poor previous rulings make it OK. I believe that natural conservation is important, but it needs to be in balance with our economy and needs. For pete's sake, we need OIL for the forseeable future so drill in that teeny tiny piece of ANWR and off our coasts so don't have to send so much money to the terrorists and other America haters. I think Global Warming is happening, but I don't think we are anything like the major cause of it. It is happening primarily because the planet goes through periodic warming and cooling cycles. If anyone thinks we humans can do anything to keep the Atlantic Conveyor running, you're sadly mistaken. The entire planet could revert to stone age levels of technology (no fires though, that's pollution) and we probably wouldn't put the tippiing point off for more than a few years. It's just an expensive waste of time. Redistribution of income (our taxation is taking money from some people and giving it to others) is another big issue. I'm comfortable, but by no means rich. I have always been willing to help others when I can, but what goes on in this country is out of control. Democrats tend to want to buy the allegiance of the lower class with promises of "free money" and I think that's wrong. I also happen to think affirmative action is racist. Two wrongs don't make a right, you make a right by correcting a wrong. Making laws that favor certain groups of people is just wrong. The republicans have become hideously bloated porkers, almost as if they are trying to prove that they can waste just as much money as the democrats do. How can you vote FOR that? Waste is bad and waste is expensive. I could go on and on and on and I imagine the liberals would brand me as hard core conservative, but I never said I thought the far lefties were reasonable people. There are so many more reasons to vote AGAINST candidates than there to vote FOR any of them. I think it's an American tragedy and I really hope we can take back our country from the politicians some day.

I don't like bleeding heart pacifist liberals and I don't like bible thumping hard line right wingers. Those people should all go to some desert island and battle it out amongst themselves and leave us the hell alone.

I like the way this question was phrased,. "most frequently" doesn't lock you into an single party's idealogy because they are all dogs with different fleas.

I support the Libertarian Party because I believe they offer the most just system of government and the best path for American prosperity.

The Libertarian Party allows maximum freedom to the individual, while still recognizing the government's important role in protecting the rights of its citizens. I believe that freeing America from governmental regulatory straight-jackets would free up the incredible creative and productive energies of this country and would lead to wide-spread economic and cultural growth.

The Libertarian Party takes the best parts of the Republicans and Democrats, makes them even better, and then jettisons the rest. The Libertarians stand for both economic liberty AND personal liberty, and support limited government across the board.

Unfortunately, however, the Libertarian Party is still small and struggling, so I also support the Republican Liberty Caucus. They have many of the same ideas as the Libertarians, but instead of starting their own party, they are trying to persuade the Republicans to adopt theirs. They are like other Republicans without the war-mongering or obsession with religious morality.

The present method of government is out of date

My idea is that we need a complete revamp in government. Not just change the people, but completely change the way we think about government.
When the current system of democracy was created the population of America was about a sixth of what it is now.

So each person's representation has reduced by around 600%.
In other words, you now get about one sixth of the representation that a citizen used to get.
This is obviously ludicrous. and is absolute evidence of a need for a change.

As the population has increased so dramatically, then the effectiveness and fairness of a central government has reduced.
What we now need is an increase in the power of local government, and a reduction in the power of central government.
I propose that we should bring back something akin to the parish councils. We should have constituencies of a maximum of 500 families. These constituencies should have total control over the lives of its constituents, with no interference from outside, They must provide all of their own facilities such as school, health care, pensions, police, ar anything which they feel that they need.
If they feel that they are too small for a particular project or service, then they negotiate with nearby constituencies to make suitable arrangements. There would be no higher level arbitrator. Full responsibility would rest at the local level.

The benefits of this are enormous. Firstly, everybody would know everybody else within a constituency, so when a problem arises it would be easy to get to the source, because it would be to everyone's benefit to do so. This alone would reduce terrorism and serious crime to a minimum. A sort of neighbourhood watch scheme in which everybody takes full part, and makes the decisions. The money presently spent on taxes, most of which disappears in red tape, civil servants' and senators salaries, waging war, and hundreds of other expenses from which the average citizen receives no benefit whatsoever, would be spent on directly benefiting the community, on projects voted for by the community.
It is most likely that taxes could be reduced to a fraction of what is presently paid, because all wastage would be readily identified. Everybody would participate in their own government, because they would be able to understand it, and would have a real voice.
There would be no need for secret services, or secrets of any kind, saving another fortune, and removing another load of confusion.

I'm sure you can identify many other benefits, and I'm also sure that any disadvantages could quickly be overcome.

I support the Republican Party and their candidates most frequently because, after studying the individual candidates, the Republican candidate has more often supported true principles that will actually benefit americans

I support the Republican Party and their candidates most frequently because they have a firm standard of behavior, namely the Bible (there are quite a few Republicans who say they believe in it but don't follow it though). Republicans believe in reward for risk, recognition for effort put forth as opposed to seniority, giving people a hand-up but not a handout, punishment for crime, and keeping the government out of the affairs of the private citizen to the greatest degree possible.

Liberals claim they fight for the working man but are actually about government-controlled redistribution of wealth. They claim to be supporters of freedom of religion when in truth they advocate freedom FROM religion -- they believe the individual has the right to elevate himself/herself to the position of god and determine what is right and wrong based on their own personal feelings, regardless of how their decisions might affect others. Worst of all, liberals claim to be the champions of individual rights, but anytime you ask a liberal how to fix a social problem, their answer always begins with "The government should..." What they don't realize is every time we, as American citizens, hand any kind of problem to the government and say "Here, fix this," we're willfully handing over a little piece of our freedom. Over time, the government gets a little more power and a little more power to exercise its will over the private citizen. Let that go too long and you have a government that controls every aspect of the individuals citizens' lives. There's a word that describes the type of government the liberals are pushing for -- COMMUNISM. Didn't work in the former Soviet Union, and it sure as heck won't work here.

I support the democrats and their philosophy because I think they tend to be more for the working man for which I am one. Repuglicans are the politics of hate and the Green party is not a viable party at this time.

Democrat. Because they tend to fight for the little man, and make the rich pay their fair share(?) of taxes.
They also use tax dollors for social programs, instead of waging war in a country that has no direct connection to the offending terrorists other than oil deposits.

Current case in point: when the repukelicans fought the minimum wage increase.
