I wonder that same thing...as well as the opening and holding doors for the lady? helping with coats? and chairs? I think it has to do with the whole feminist movement- but who knows?

That is a great question...Here's my answer: Because somewhere in the last 20 to 25 years parents do not teach their children things like respect, responsibility, morals, or values. I am not sure where that all got lost, but it did. I think it is sad the way people treat each other. We live in a world of instant gratification now days. No one stops and smells the flowers any more. People miss out on so much...

You know what happened. Girls stopped expecting it! They started sleeping with men before marriage and it was down hill from there. If you do not have standards you get what you get. My bf told me very true words " a man will do whatever a woman lets him get away with". This is so true. When my bo and I first started dating, we had been going out about 2 months. One particular day we had participated in several activities. After the stopping to get icecream at a pricey parlor, he looked at me and asked me if I had ever heard of going dutch? I quite calmly responded " Have your ever heard of Kiss my a** and take me home"? I told him that I was old fashioned in many respects and that if he expected to date me then he will pay for all dates. If we just happen to do something unplanned or I invite him out for something, then sure I will make a contribution. He never mentioned it again and always pays for everything. We have been dating several years. So ladies you have got to make these guys know your value. If you don't think you are valuable then no one else will, especially a guy!

Dating changed along with women's lib I'm afraid! In an age where you can't hold a door open for a woman without it being perceived as sexist, how's a man supposed to take her out on a date and give her gifts? Plus today's society is more sexually charged which leaves people skipping the dating part for some horizontal exercise!

men think now if your not giving it up then they are not going to spend their money on you. In this day in age everything is getting more expensive. and unless you have a really good job, most people can not offered to spend the little extra a week for a date's candy and flowers (besides dinner and a movie)

I'm not sure but luck for me I have an old fashioned guy who still does all that. Sorry if it seems like I'm bragging. I just know how lucky I am.
