Actually Turkey sat out of WW2, but has been active as UN peace keeper since the Korean War. They have also gone a long ways to mend relations with traditional foes. Turkey is at peace.
That said, Turkey still has problems with their own Kurdish ethnic groups toward the East. These problems have been violent in the past. You may see added security in large public places such as malls.
