I have only recently realised that because I don't have any children, I won't get any grandchildren!!! I am envious of all my 50/60 year old friends who are having such fun with theirs. Why didn't I think ahead?

Not more pleasure, different pleasure. My grandson is the light of my life!! But I love my kids as well, but they aren't little anymore. He has the that look that all little kids have, that everything is new and exciting. That's good to see again. Adults lose that, and, well, try to act like adults. Too bad.....

Yes
I Don't Have Any Grandchildren As Yet But There Is So Much Worry In Your Own Children When You Are Bringing Them Up You Don't Get As Much Chance To Enjoy Them.
But I feel When You Have Grandchildren They Are Not So much Your Worry, So You Can Enjoy Them And Have Fun.
If You Know What I Mean

Instead of being envious of your friends have you ever thought that they may be envious of you and the freedom you have in your life.

The grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side, you look at them and see the fun of grandchildren, they look at you and see freedom from the worry of children and grandchildren.

You are in an enviable position - you can be a surrogate grandparent to your friends' grandchildren, if you have brothers and sisters you are the great-uncle, if you have cousins, you can be the relative who takes their kids presents or takes them out.

If all else fails, do some voluntary work - there are always people, young and old, in need of a friendly face. It could be you.

its not so much that they get more pleasure, they just get more quality time to enjoy them! and can always hand them back when they have had enough!
Some kids dont have grand parents for one reason or another and want one, why dont you advertise yourself as an unemployed trainee-grandparent with full police checks and a clean police record ,personal references can be given and see what happens. I have heard of this before and it has brought so much happiness to all parties concerned. I know it will all take time, but it could be worth it. Just because you are not blood related doesn't mean you cant be a good role model, listener, advice giver friend and confidant.

o.k. I have two grandbabies that are 7 and 4. They are not blood, but I was their when they were born, and love them like they were blood. When they come over and yell " nanny" my heart just explodes with joy. Now don't get me wrong, I work frll time as a OB nurse and have two teenagers myself and don't always feel like entertaining the grandbabies. The time I do spend with them is with them. No house cleaning or working on something else, it's play time. Im'm still kinda young so I have the energy to play with all the kids when grandbabie time comes but when my childrens children get her I don't know. I feel for you if you never get to experience the love and joy, but noone knows the future, you may met a lady that has grandbabies, get close and have the love for them.

Good luck

Having children is a constant worry. You become so protective,
you don't let them do things for fear of them hurting themselves or you don't let them play out unless you're there, for fear of someone taking them.
So yes you can enjoy your grandchildren, there not your full responsibility, you can hand them back over to their parents.
But having children is so amazing. It's a pity you didn't have any, Have you thought of becoming an adopted granny.

Ha ha. I don't have any children either. From what I have seen of other people though, yes, their grandchildren give them much more pleasure than their children.

If only life was that easy :)

I dont have any grandkids but I dont think they give more pleasure .. from what I have seen its almost like a second time around at being a parent but with less responsibility .. which would be nice :)

I will look forward to it :)

Well. The children don't live with the grandparents all the time.
