You can prevent it by training him. Dogs that are owned by people that don't take care of them or beat them get aggresive dogs.
Pitbulls aren't aggresive unless they are taught to be. Check out Cesar Millan's books and stuff, he writes alot about this sort of thing.

Pit bulls have a bad rap. I've seen poodles attack people! Of course, a pitbull does have a stronger bite, but many times, when someone is attacked by a dog, the dog is just assumed to be a pit bull. The media plays up on this - and will call it a pit bull attack even if they know that it was a different type of dog.
Also, remember that pit bulls were originally bred for dog-fighting. They may be aggressive toward other dogs, but shouldn't be toward humans. The dogs were bred so that in a dog fight, their owner could reach his hand in and separate the two dogs without getting hurt. If two other breeds of dogs were fighting, a person couldn't do that without getting serious injuries.
Training and socialization is important for all dogs. Training allows the owner more control and will make the bond between owner and dog stronger. Plus, it gives the dog an opportunity to succeed, which dogs love (who wouldn't?). It also gives the owner an opportunity to learn the dog's body language.
Socialization introduces the dog to other people, animals, situations, etc. All dog aggression is fear based so if the dog is introduced to a wide variety of things/places, the less likely that dog will be fearful. Plus the owner will know what situations the dog doesn't like and will avoid those.

Pitbulls are NOT bad dogs first off.
Any dog can attack any person if the dog was not raised right.
A pit bull bite is no worse than a poodle bite and believe it or not small dogs have the worst bite and bite more often because being so small they feel that is the only way they can defend themselves.
I have never even been bitten by a dog because I know how to handle them and I do some training with them. Trust me, there is no need to worry about your dog turning on you as long as he/she was handled well and not taught to fight. You treat a puppy well it will be a good adult dog, you treat a puppy badly it has more of a chance of attacking people when it is an adult. You raise a baby/kid right and it will be a good adult, you raise a baby/kid wrong and it grows up being a bully, a fighter even a killer.
Kids and puppies are very much alike.

For one thing pit bulls are like ur average dog. It depends how u raise ur pit bull that matters. Pit bulls can be the sweetest dog but if not properly raised and socialized they might get scared of humans and bite. Most people dont know that pit bulls can lock their jaw so they dont let go,but they realese it when they want to (id practice on realese comands) Pit bulls are sronger than ur average dog so who ever is training them has to be strong(or is the dog is stonger than the trained u need to get a chain collar that has spikes and attach the leash to that. It does not hurt the just give the owner more strenght to controll the dog) They can have a strong bite and just a "grab" bite when there playing. If u are looking to by a guard dog a pit bull would be a good choose but DO NOT train them to become guard dogs if they like u they will already guard u. i would suggest basic training and activities u and ur pit bull can do together to build trust. It is also a good idea to get it used to people, noises, and other dogs. If ur dog is alone during the day get some toys and hide treats around the house. Alot of pets have bad bites rottwilers, german sheperd, and other larger breeds. And some small ones too. Like i said earlier its all about how u raise the dog how well its treated and how much the dog and the owner like each other. Hope i have been some help!

A bite from any anykind of dog is painful no matter what breed it is. A lot of people think that pitbulls are pure evil incarnate but it depends on how the dog is raised. If they are in a loving home all of their lives then they are some of the best pets in the world, and then vice versa if they are raised to be aggressive and to attack then they can be vicious creatures. One way to avoid a bite is not too mistreat your animal, and socialize starting from a young age with people as well as with other animals.

A pitbull's bite is no stronger than any other dogs. It is their perseverance and will that is stronger than other dogs. It is not true that pits attack their owners. You can ask any vet, or dog expert, as I have-any dog or animal that has been inbred may have some mental issues where it would appear as though the dog just clicked one day. You have to make sure you get your pit (or any other dog) from a responsible breeder and they weren't inbred. I have pits and have had them all my life. They have never bitten anyone. I have one that I rescued and even he who was abused only has specific people aggression against the person who abused him as a puppy. Discriminating against pits is a form of racial profiling. My dogs are polite, obedient, loyal, family pets. There also has never been a problem with any puppy that was bred from my home. HTH

I personally don't believe any breed of dog "just one day turn on the owner" Pet ownership is all about dominance. Dogs are pack animals and must always know their place in the pack. This is why we train them.
Many breeds of dogs bite their owners, why? Because the owners let their dogs bite them. I laugh every time I see someone trying to talk logic to a dog. why? It's a dog. You give him a command and if he is well trained he will follow the command. If not he will growl at you and bite you if you insist.
I am not saying my dogs are perfect either. Wish they were. But I absolutely do not tolerate my dogs biting me!!!!
The worst dog bite I have seen came from a Rottweiler and another from a Chihuahua.
Actually the smaller dogs are quicker to bite their owners because many people are less likely to properly train their small dog than they are a large dog. Ever see those people who can't move their small dog if the dog doesn't want to move?

no they dont attack there owner or any one else if trained propley, pitbulls are ment to be loyal famaly pets. but there bite is strong as ther have very strong jaw mussels.
but i am a firm beleaver that dogs never attack with out a reason. so take your dog to training classes or learn how to train it from books and do it your self.
my lectura breed snakes and lizards and has been bitten many times by diffrent animals but the only bite to put her in A&E was a hamster bite.

first of all do you know anything if your own dog bites you its becauyse you are mean to it, secound of all i get so tiered of idiots when it comes to pit bulls they are no different than any other dog unless they are mistreated by man such as feeding them gun powder swinging oan or beating them with things when tied up not socializing them teasing them there are a lot of sick people out there. ive had pit bulls for over 25 years they have been raised with my kids and grandchildren i have 6 grandchildren and 3 children have had up to 15 pits at once they have neaver ever had one biting accident they didnt even try to kill the cat or the other dogs witch wre rat terriors. I have one now whos buddies are the pimy goat 4 lb chiwawa and a jack russel. they are a lovable animal and who ever abuses them like any other animal should be severly punished. if you would do follow up on dog bites most hallor they been bit by a pit and turns out its not even a pit but of course they are not going to bring that part out

It's strong enough to hurt....doesn't matter much after that.
The only way to prevent a bite is to train and manage the dog very carefully. Frankly, it's a ticking time bomb in many cases. You need to use extreme caution when dealing with this breed as they do have a short temper. Training and careful ownership will help control that, but it may not be enough.
