Is there any real discussions going at these meetings? Can anyone actually disagree with the pastor or other coordinator? Or are they just meetings where the good ol' boys get together for an hour or two that is sanctioned by their wives?

Our Church has a weekly men's group. It is great and my husband loves it. It is a confidential setting in which all are free to discuss anything they would like. Yes, you can disagree with the Pastor.

The group has a once a month breakfast with a speaker. Speakers have included, other Pastor's, retired Red Sox Christian's and so on.

It certinaly couldn't hurt for you to go and try it out. If you like it then it's all good and if you don't then you don't have to go back.

God Bless You!

There aree as many answers to that question as there are churches. Each one is going to reflect the personality of the pastor/leader and the style of the church. About the only way to find out how YOUR church does it is to attend a couple of the meetings and see.

My father and cousin-in-law are both involved in the same local church group. They meet for breakfast early Friday mornings and they usually have a short devotional prepared by one of the members, followed by group discussion. My father says he gets a lot out of it. He has been able to share his experiences raising two sons with the others in the group, and he has also been able to hear from other members in the group that have gone through similar personal experiences (e.g., job issues, marital issues, roles of a Christian man in society, etc.) Sounds to me like they're serious about being better Christians, better husbands, better fathers; heck, just better human beings in general.

Hi! it really depends on the church. one of the churches I've been to were really focused on making men feel welcomed (because apparently church has a women-y vibe to it now-a days.) it also depends on the guy leading it. so, i'd search that guy out if you don't want to jump in, and see if you like him at all. If you don't want to do that, just jump in and risk it (it's only what? and hour?)

It just depends on who is dancing naked on any given night and how many kegs are at the party.
