i dont think you need to follow anyone else besides the girl herself.. you have had a long healthy relation.. i understand that you have also gone through quite a number of ups and downs in this long time.. you two have come out to be quite an understanding towards each other..
all you have to have is PATIENCE.. and keep in touch with her.. try to work out whether something that wen wrong was your mistake or was just a misunderstanding... if it was your mistake be apologetic and try not to repeat it.. if it was the latter work it out and convince her of the truth..
she just angry.. and is feeling bad about a certain things.. but she likes you a lot..
and hey.. do you want to marry this girl? ....cuz girls want such a turn in such relations after such a long time..

The fact that you said "first breakup" says something. Do you really want her back? Sounds like you are looking forward to more break-ups...move on and let her too!
