the hugely elitist attitude in this category. some of you, and i'll refrain from naming names, only choose best answers for your friends which you feel are somehow better. i've seen excellent answers skipped over in favor of the asker's friend. so what's up with that?

apparently some of you aren't that brilliant. the question is why do you think there are people like that. i have plenty of friends, but don't always pick theirs as best answer. leave your insults at the door =)

people choose the answers that agree with them. they would rather not give points to someone who gave a great answer for the opposite of what they believe, because they are stubborn.
The person Let's Talk, who did not really answer your question, is a great example of this. He says many things about the Christian faith, then chooses Christian answers as the best answers, when someone will give a better (better meaning more thumbs up) atheistic answer.

I agree with you totally. People need to honestly pick the best answer on the page, regardless of who posted it. Why do people have to continually ruin good ideas? I don't ask many questions on here, but I guarantee that I always pick the answer that I feel is the best for the question asked.

There is a simple answer to this.
Many questions in this category are not "I really want to know" questions. They are "I feel a certain way, and am looking for an affirmation" questions. They only then give the "best answer" rating to the one who most agrees with their pre-conceived notion.
Example: A person who asks "How can a person be foolish enough to believe in an invisible God?" will not give the "best answer" rating to a faith answer. He will only give it to one who says "Yeah! God doesn't exist!"

But that falls directly into the Abuse Catagory of Point-gaming and, at the very least, should be pointed out to the participants to be more fair and equitable when dispensing the Coveted 10

unfortunately thats the system. It is not about what is best, or did the best. Society is based on relationship of who can I pick that will get me what I want. It does not involve even if it is right so long as the bottom line is - I get what I want!

That is true. I have only once had a friend or family member answer one of my questions and they didn't get the best answer. When I go to any questions I almost always give a serious answer, unless it wasn't a serious question.

from me personally I'm not in it for the points, its more of a mental stimulation for me. The great prize is helping someone, making a friend, sharing a laugh. Thats all. If you have a group of friends on here are they seem to be bypassing you, maybe they are not your friends at all. Make new freinds.

Well, it sounds quite juvenile to me. Most people pick answers with which they agree not just because it was written by a friend -- that would be mindless.

Some people don't care. They are greedy and don't care for awarding the best answer. It is sad.
