Not sure , probably why they eat cat poop out of the litter box, or even their own stools. I had dogs that have done those things. It is just a behavior problem. The vet told me to remove the temptation as soon as possible. There are thing you can sprinkle on their own poo so they don't eat it, tablets to feed them, but they seem like a waste of money to me. Just keep the diapers out of his reach.

It is usually caused by a insufficient balanced diet. They are lacking certain vitamins and/or minerals and seek it else where. This is also common with them eating either their own waste or cat waste. If they eat their own or a cats, there is medication on the market called Deter. You feed it to the animal in which is producing the waste that the dog is eating. It creates a even worse taste to them and usually prevents them from doing it again. It does not harm the "animal" that you are giving it to. Make sure you follow instructions on the box of what you can and cannot give it to.

Why aren't you wrapping the diapers so that the dog can't get to the diapers in the first place? I can't believe that you can't keep a trash can out of a dog's reach so that it can't get to them.
I live in the country with racoons, squirrels, deer, black bear and other animals that just love to get into trash cans and I have no problem keeping them out, a domesticated dog should be considerably easier.

The sweetness in the poo! Baby formula and food are very sweet. Same reason they eat cat poo from the litter box - fish oil in the cat food.
