I am Catholic, and I respect most of the religions of the world, especially other christians. But I have a question. Most Christians are very loud about their love of Jesus, and their "accepting Jesus as their personal Savior", but then why are they in religions founded by mere men? Why not be in a religion that was founded by Jesus himself? Yes that's right, Jesus founded the Catholic faith, and I do not understand why more people do not realize that.

I am sorry, I might not have wored it right. I know Jesus did not personally found our church, but like some of you said, he personally told Peter to become the rock of the church which eventually became the Catholic Church. SO in other words, he told someone to create the church. Also, can anyone tell me where in the bible it says "you must accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior"? I don't remember seeing it. Jesus talked about being born again, but he was talking about eating the bread of life, or the Eucharist, not "accepting Him as your personal savior"

To justify their contention they MUST believe that somehow or other Jesus failed to keep His promise to Peter (Mt. 16: 17-19). And that the Church got off track and headed straight for hell until God sent these humans with a message that says in various ways; "The Church is going to Hell. If you don't wanta go along then come join MY church."
And then there's the pull of security and comfort. They grew up in these churches. They're familiar with its rituals, its customs. They're in their comfort zone. Leaving that is really tough and it takes a lot of courage to walk away from what you've known all your life. We're not all Abrahams, ya know.
Love them, answer their questions with knowledge, patience and courtesy and leave them to their own free will decisions. God is Love. He'll handle them just fine.

I am a Christian but we are not those who are saying that "accept Jesus as personal Savior is sufficient to be saved, and so on....." because there is no such thing in the bible. Salvation is life long devoution like as simple as just accepting.
You are right that man should be in a religion that was founded by Jesus himself BUT........
I strongly believe that, AS A FORMER CATHOLIC, CATHOLISM is NOT the religion founded by Jesus.
Here's the proof:
A) The bible says that it is a shame unto man to have long hair (I Corinthians 11:14) , but why is the supposed Jesus' "picture" always have long hair?
B) Why are priest and the pope wants to be called to be Father of our Faith when it was prohibited by Jesus ( Matthew 24:9) and worse, the Pope is titled as the MOST HOLY FATHER.(it is in he superlative degree, is he more holier than the Father in Heaven?)
C) They have invented teachings such as purgatory, rosary, limbo, emaculate conception, etc.; things that are not written in the bible when the Bible is VERY STRICT when it says we SHOULD NOT EXCEED in things that are written (I Corinthians 4:6; Galacians 1:8)
D) Why don't they have exommunication when it isa requisite ans is vital in preserving the goodness and the integrity of the church (I Corinthians 5:13)
E) Why are they allowing graven images when it is abomination in sight of God? (Exodus 20:4-5; Deut 29:17,27; Acts 17:19)
F) Faith is needed in baptism but why are infants being baptized (Acts 8:37-38)? Is there any biblial reference for this? NONE.
G) Why do they believe in original sin when it is clearly writen in the bible that sin CAN NEVER be inherited (Ezekiel 18:20)
And lots more....
A real follower of Christ are the doer of His laws, but look what Catholism is teaching?
Addendum. RE: Additional information.

Sorry but I think you are misled.
PETER WAS NOT THE ROCK. Jesus IS. (Acts 4:11-12) Because the purpose of the rock is to become the foundation, and the house written in the Acts 4:11-12 is the church. Tthis is all summed up in I Timothy 3:15 and Ephesians 2:20 being
House=church
Foundation=Christ
Being born again is not eating the Eucharist, it is being baptized (which, the CAtholic doctrine does not follow the proper way of doing it)
The Eucharist does make sense. Jesus was not refering to a literal bread that we must partake. It symbolizes the body of Christ, not the body as in body, but it refers to the Church (Colossians 1:18, 24). Eating the bread means making it part of us, that is being part of the Church.

With all due respect, I don't remember reading the word Catholic in the Bible. True, Jesus told Peter to be the cornerstone, the rock that gets the church going, and true, Peter started what later became the Catholic church, but Jesus never mentioned half the stuff that you guys do in your services. I'm not knocking your faith or system, but there are a few things that you guys are into that seem very contrary to what Jesus did say. Example: (not bashing or condemning) you pray to Saints. Jesus said you could only reach the father through Him. Example 2: you guys tend to chant or repeat things over and over again and hold riturals. Jesus said that type of stuff didn't really accomplish all that much.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm just not seeing your specific church as being "the one and only." I think there are many denominations so that many people can find God. I don't see how that's wrong.

I was raised Catholic and now am in another religion, though I deeply respect your beliefs. The issues I came upon was authority. The Church was indeed begun by Jesus however there were years of falling away and unrighteous leaders where a true chain of authority is lost. I believe, as you do, that there are so many churches founded by men, Martin Luther himself stated he did not have the authority to start a new church but he couldn't remain Catholic with the issues he saw in the church. When Christ began the church he ordained the apostles, this ordination of priesthood authority though cannot be passed by unrighteous men and, if you know your history, the church had a few hundred years here and there where it was obvious that it was lost. So long answer to short question, I changed due to lack of authority and corrupted doctrine.

Nondescript has offered a reliable answer to your question. I might just add that you are basing your whole thesis on one verse in the Bible in which Jesus tells Peter that he shall build his church upon him. Actually, it is Peter's faith that Christ was building his church on, and the verses preceding would confirm that. Jesus would not have needed 12 disciples if he had only planned on using Peter to build his church. The fact is that they all (except Judas) had a part in building the church, and later Paul, who was responsible for starting and building churches all over the known world, did as well. There were more men in the upper room were the Holy Spirit came than just Peter. Peter was no greater or lesser than any of the Apostles. Jesus founded his church on all of their faith, not just Peter's. So Jesus did not found the Catholic Church, he founded the his church in the faith of his disciples.

I was born and raised Catholic. It does not matter what religion you are as long as you have Jesus in your heart.
The catholic faith was founded by Jesus.(Jesus pointed at Peter and said on this rock I wll build my church) There are so many things in the faith that priests and popes say we have to do that I had to leave the faith, for one I can't pray to Mary (Thou shalt have no other God but me. The thing that defines a god is weather or not we worship them or pray to them.) I will not pray to the saints for the same reason. I dont belive that babies need to be baptised. There are so many things right in the Catholic faith but those two drove me away.
I don't belive, like some other people, who don't know to much about the catholic faith. That all catholics are going to hell. My dad and mom are catholic and my dad is already with Jesus. It's all about faith in Jesus not religion.

Jesus Christ founded "the" church. Historically, the Catholic church did not come into existence until 1054 AD when it split with the Orthodox church.
Its claim to be the "original church" is not different then the claim of every Orthodox, Protestant, Pentecostal, and other church. They can all trace their ancestry back to a group that they split from which can trace itself all the way back to the first century church. They may claim fewer splits then other groups, but they are still a "split".
The church is not a single denominational line or tradition, but a body made up of every person who has joined their heart to Christ and each other, regardless of the name over the door of the building they attend. But I am sure that you realize that, as you appear to be an intelligent and thoughtful Christian.

All religions are founded by mere men. Jesus did not found the Catholic faith. Jesus was dead for decades before people wrote legends about his exploits. Even then, it wasn't until a few hundred years later that a group of them got together, edited the various stories that were circulating, and created an official canon.

Jesus was preaching as a teacher, a Rabbi, and even as a Prophet. He was only teaching the Holy Scriptures-the Jewish faith- that he felt was not being lived as it should have been.
Men (his original disciples and others) came along and founded the religion. Christianity would have died out if it had not been for Paul and his charismatic approach.
Christianity is a man made religion. But, then, aren't all religions man made in one form or another?

Christ did NOT found the 'catholic faith', or any other denomination...you've been deluded by catholic dogma...and the pope is NOT infallible, and mary is NOT the mother of God...Christ is the head of the church (His followers worldwide) and the pope is a good man, but ultimately just a man...

Orthodox i am by the act of christening.
You aren't exactly right - God can not found a religion. It is obvious and to long to show you examples.
Religion is a system of social coherence commonly understood as a group of beliefs or attitudes concerning an object, person, unseen or imaginary being, or system of thought considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine or highest truth, and the moral codes, practices, values, institutions, and rituals associated with such belief or system of thought.
Couldn't say that better myself. Religion is not G*d but totally human thing.
