Ok you have a long story, however friendship is not something that can be ignored so easily. Talk to him and explain the situation to him, you cannot break relationships just like that, every relationship has problems and people overcome them. So talk to him, this time oyu aplogise and hope he will understand you. I am sure both of you understand how important your relationship is and it cannot break just coz you had a problem between.
Best of luck.

For couples to have a happy long term relationship, they must behave as matured adults.
The behaviours you described here between you in the same company are immature. Why do you have to fight to gain the boss's approval at the expense of the other? This appears very childish.
You must be able to discuss differences without being personal with each other. Each argument must be based on facts and not emotion. Once you get emotional, you will not be logical in your views. I think he has a long way to go if does not try to change his immature behaviour.
Good luck to you if you want to give him another chance. By the way, I don't think it is wise for intimate couples to be working in an environment that makes you compete against each other for recognition! Similarly, neither one should be in a more senior position in the same company and department.

Well, least I can say is that your friend didn't act like a good friend and I suppose you've been hurt by his stupid behavior. I think best thing is to talk about it together and let him know how you felt. Time will only tell if things can be like before between you and him because trust is something really hard to gain again once we have been disappointed by those we love.
