I don't think he directly intervenes in our lives, or what would be the reason for giving us free will. I do believe he has a plan for us, and he gives us choices on how to get to the end result. How we get there, whether it be the easy way or the hard way, is up to us.

From personal experience I KNOW he steps in at times, sometimes critical times. I believe on a whole we are given internal compasses to negotiate and we have truths and nontruths to choose to govern out lives with but there is real purpose to life and God does play an active role.

No. There are no gods. That doesn't stop people from attributing things that happen in their lives to God. If you take all the good things that happen in your life and say, "Thank you God!" and take all the bad things that happen in your life and say, "Satan did it!", that does nothing, really. Though, if you do it often enough, you'll probably convince yourself of it.
If you look at the lives of atheists and true believers, their lives have about the same amount of good and bad things happening in them.

Mostly, He gives you wisdom and strength, and guidance. When on occasions He is very close to you, you may know, may not -- His will! The man on desert, with God holding his hand, showing the way said after some time: "God you deserted me at the most difficult lap, Isee only one set of foot steps there, mine....You not there with me!" and, God answers: "...son, those foot steps, just the one set, they are mine, not yours, because in the difficult lap, I carried you on my shoulders!"

I attempt in my own little way with tremendous faith in GOD. i do not tread the position i'm actual discouraged in existence. the challenge with being an exhorter for GOD is that new got here across faith without each day reassurance is readily lost. people keep on with words that tickle their fancy and their ears somewhat then their heart and their innovations and that continuously takes them faraway from their faith. they tend to maintain on with the path of the international and not in any respect GOD which right away turns their song of praise to the communicate of snakes bent on the urge for food of others soreness and suffering.

I think it can happen either way. There can be direct intervention by God or his word can leave people in the world ready to "step into your life."
