How can you believe in what you believe is not there?

Hot Topic!

Yes, Atheist exist. We already know that. I am a Christian, and when people ask me how I can believe in a God that you can't see, hear touch or even speak to? My reply is this; If I follow the Bible (as best I can) and obey the laws set fourth then by the Grace of Jesus my soul goes to heaven when the Judgment day arrives. On the flip side of the coin I add this...If I am wrong in my belief then nothing happens after we die and my belief will have been in vain. If my belief is correct then I will not be denied before God as the Atheist will be. My point? If I am wrong then nothing happens...If they are wrong and God is real, then their soul is doomed!

If we are, as atheists or secular humanists say, a cosmic accident, a random collection of molecules which coalesced into life by chance, then we have no meaning. The train we're riding in, the house we live in, the table we eat at all have more meaning than we do because they were made with a purpose. What a sad circumstance. You could kill yourself right now and it would be of no consequence - it wouldn't matter that your family and friends are heartbroken, they have no meaning, so their feelings are meaningless. This is a brutal thought, but it's the core of atheism/secular humanism. To an atheist, there can't be a purpose to life because an accidental life form has no basis, no meaning.

Do I believe in Atheist? Since I've met several, I have to say "Yes, I believe that atheists exist."

As for becoming an atheist myself? No -- I prefer to remain an agnostic. I am not willing to make the leap of faith required to become an atheist.

No I do not. Atheist are people who give up on things in life. They may have started out with one religion or another, but for some reason just gave up.

Preacher, your question was: How can you believe in what you believe is not there?

My answer is this: we all believe that air is around us, but how do we know that for sure? Has anybody seen air, can we smell it, taste it, touch it?

So if we believe that we have air, then I believe in my God, the Creator of all life. We can't see Him, or touch Him but I know He is here with me.

If you ask for the proof of God, then I will say, your ability to ask me this question by itself is the proof for existence of God. Source for material in your body is food, source for water is river but what is the source for the one who is asking this question.

Believing in nothing is also a kind of belief just like black is a colour as well. Anyway I feel equally sorry for believers and non believers alike. Actually God is not constrained with what a person on earth thinks about him, belief is just a kind of steering which keep our decision making and actions balanced in life, the engine which can take us anywhere is our hard work and assessment of situations in life.

There are ten things which human can control but there are thousand things which the person have to live with, if you think you are master of your destiny, then the whole world look like a jungle to you , because anything could happen any time, and your inability to control the future will keep you stressed.

If you believe God is going to do everything then also nothing is going to happen because God have given you all faculties of senses to act upon situations in life, God is not your servant.

Anyway I think aim of the belief is to provide people with a guess about when they have to trust there hard work and capabilities and when they have to hand things over to destiny.

I'm an athiest and it's the best "religion" for me. The only "God" I need to please is myself, and if I'm truely happy doing whatever I do in my life that allows me to treat other people with respect and good intentions. The only time I'm angry or mean to people is when they have crossed me, not when I have crossed them. There's no need to be mean to people, I'm the one without anxiety or stresses put on me by trying to live up to someone else's preconcieved notions of "right or wrong". I don't have to feel everyone else is wrong because they don't believe what I believe, every Athiest to me is "right" because they are believing whats "right " for them. Don't get me wrong, killing, raping etc. are just plain wrong. Just be a good person, follow your own heart and everything else will fall into place.

Question doesn't make any sense...you can't believe in Atheism. You can follow or practice atheism...but the whole point is it is anti-belief, therefore there is nothing to believe in.

Does it really matter. Everyone is entitled to believe as they choose to. It is their right. No one has the right nor the wisdom to judge them for it! In doing so you contradict the very religion you profess to believe in!
