Siamese Cat lives in Neighborhood, HE is a stray. HE, is a very visible Male unneutered Cat. He appeared to be thin about two months ago, (It is very hot here). He has been coming to eat the food We leave on the front porch. I was gone for almost two weeks, but Family still put food, and fresh water out everyday. When I came home His stomach was distended, (swollen). I caught Him with a net, and brought Him inside. My Cat book said possible Roundworms. So I treated Him for that, but no worms. He eats, drinks, eliminates, and has a temperature of 102.7. Normal is 101.5 to 102.5. He is under My bed. Any suggestions about the swelling? He seems fine. The problem with the vet is that I can not get Him to go inside Our pet carrier. I had to fight like everything to do what I have done. Please any helpful answers. And HE IS NOT A SHE, AND IS NOT PREGNANT, That is the one thing I am very certain about. He is getting old, and has lost some teeth. I call Him Blue.

My heart is still broken, I still can't believe it. He has always been a fighter, but at the Vet He just layed His beautiful head on the towel, We wrapped Him in, on the exam table, like He knew it was over. He let Me hold Him.....we brought Him home to rest.

You can try either catching the cat in a pillow case or towel. I work at a vet clinic and we have a lot of cat owners that have to bring their kitty in a towel. As far as what's wrong with Blue, it sounds like one of two things: 1-he has a parasite or bacterial infection or 2-he may have either feline leukemia or feline AIDS (it's not transmittable to humans so don't worry, it's a completely different strand of the disease). Both leukemia & feline AIDS compromise a cat's immune system and sadly neither of them have a cure. If he does have either of those diseases, he may have started out with some kind of infection but the leukemia or AIDS has made it much worse. 1 out of 7 cats has one of those ailments and they can both cause sores & abcesses in the mouth so that may be why Blue has lost some teeth. He can be tested for those diseases by a veterinarian. If you have other cats be sure to keep them apart because if Blue does have either leukemia or AIDS he can transmit it to your other cats by sharing water & food bowls and grooming with them. Leukemia & feline AIDS aren't necessarily a death sentence. Many cats can live a relatively normal life with proper medication and treatment. Of course, they won't live as long as a cat that doesn't have either of the diseases but as long as you take care of him he will be happy as long as he's here. The hiding under the bed is probably because he doesn't feel well, but it could just be because he's in a new environment or both. If Blue has some sort of parasite or bacterial infection then you want to be sure he's not sharing a litterbox with any other cats or they can get what he has by stepping on his feces. The best thing for Blue is to be seen as soon as possible by your vet. You can try checking the phone book for mobile vets or vets that make house calls if you can't get Blue in the car. Good luck and I hope Blue makes a full recovery!!

He needs to go to the vet. He most likely has either an infection in the abdomin or some other type of worm that the medication did not get. I suggest wrapping him in a towel (big one) before putting him in the cat carrier. Use two people to do this.

Nix the carrier. He is too scared. Catch him in the net and pour him into a pillow case. Once in the case he will become still and quiet. As long as he is in the case, he won't move or claw, something about the dark and closeness of the material? Then take him to the vet and let the vet manage him for the exam. Good luck and be patient. He has been through h--l and needs your help and care.

The best thing is get him to the vets. They do have cat carriers that the top comes off you could try that type set him in it and quickly put the top back on. Thay really is the only solution either a home visit vet or take him in. Thanks for doing the best you can for the stray Siamese.

If you are still having trouble getting him into a carrier, try leaving some kitty treats in there, and then walk away. Hopefully he will go in and help himself, and you can close the door behind him. Also, you can try tilting the carrier to that it rests on its back (with the door facing up) and GENTLY lower him in. These techniques usually work with my cats.

First of all, it's nice to read about the kindness of people like you. Over the counter worming medication is limited in what it can do. To begin, you may want to take a fecal sample to your veterinarian. Besides roundworms, there are hookworms, tapeworms, intestinal parasites such as coccidia, and other things that can be tested for. If he comes back positive, they can get him started on the correct medication. If he is negative, it's time to see the vet. As he will allow you to temp him, you should be able to scruff him and put him into the carrier. An easy way to do this is to stand the carrier up on it's side so that you can just drop him in. He'll be on the bottom long enough to shut the door. I'd put a towel over the carrier for transport to minimize stress.

try leaving the cat carrier out to let the cat smell it and get use to it, i am glad there are people like you in this world to do this, there are far to many that dont care ..If it was me i would maybe put some food in the carrier and try to coax him in, if wourse comes to worse then i would aslo try covering him with a blanket to get ahold of him and put him in the carrier the vet can sedate him if need be to get him out ,,,good luck!

if you can't get a vet to home visit, go to one (or call) and explain the situation. Ask if they might give you a mild sedative for the cat - just enough to get him into the vet clinic. At this point, the vet may either agree to come himself; send his vet technician; or tell tell you some other way to get the cat into your car and into his clinic. Whenever I take my cat with me on a plane, I give him 1/4 of a pill sedative and it is enough to keep him controlled but not asleep or sleepy (indeed, he cries all the time). I don't have the name of this sedative (its a little yellow pill), though. But I really want to say that I do appreciate folks like you who have a heart for distressed animals and willing to do something about it.

There are mobile vets. If it is too difficult to get to one just have a vet come to you. Also you can get kitty tranquilizers from the vet try that as well.

i believe if nothing has changed, the fish is pregnant, if the fish had an infection or some other problem, there would be other signs or symptoms other than the enlarged abdomen.

Maybe he just has flatulence like some old people do? He probably just has some colicky pain. Does he stink like he is farting? I saw many old cats with a swollen stomach.
Is there a medication from flatulence?
You are so kind.
Good luck with the cat, i am sure he gets better :)
