Just look at the history of slavery in America. Many chose to run away. Being a slave does not mean, in your heart, that you have no choice about what you desire.
So why would freely chosing to be a slave to God be a poor analogy to what God requires of us to attain Heaven and avoid Hell?

Nondescript: I'm looking for your previous example and cannot find it. This question came from something Angle Babe said in my previous question.

Because God gave us the freedom of choice. Being a slave would indicate an outside force would force us to go along with God, where in reality it is our own choice. So, by definition, you can only chose to be a servant of God, a slave would indicate you have no choice. That is why I believe it is a poor analogy.

That is a good point.....I work with a woman who is a strict Calvinist and she made the comment the other day, "if I could choose who I served, I would never have chosen God."
I was so sad for her because she views God as a brutal entity that she has no choice but to follow, because she is chosen.
Whereas, I love God and people more because I know him and would not even think about jumping off the path....
I think Paul's writings really screwed up a lot of people's thinking process.....

Hmm, looks like you missed the point of my example. Oh well. Choice had nothing to do with the point of the example.
But to answer your question briefly, a slave is one who doesn't have the choice of leaving. That's the definition of slave.
The example was pointing out whether it was cruel or not to set impossible goals for someone then beat them for not meeting those goals. Then it asked if, in that situation, having them tell you how wrong they were and kissing your ring made it any less cruel.

Existence of heaven and hell could not be proven by science. Heaven or hell are not a choice. They are just a belief. So, slaves had not a real choice.

Some slaves turned on their masters and killed them too...and they probably deserved it.
It's difficult to choose to be a slave to a non-existent & fictional character...I can't manage the suspension if disbelief it requires.

the road to hell is short and wide. but the road to heaven is a long and narrow path because we are born into sin and it is an on going battle between good and evil. in other words the devil fights to win your soul everyday and he will make it so easy for you to stray into his path...so we have disiplines to live by to get to God. its like having a strict parent that doesn't want you get mixed up in drugs or whatever...understand

For a true follower, slave is a misnomer. there are "Masters" who bring out the in you. As for running away, it is a choice by itself! "Follow, Lead, or, Get out" says wisdom of old.
