which will pay fast?

I intend to stert a business as a photographer, but i dont know which branch of it to follow. should i just take portraits of people or should i do pictures of kids. ii will be doing it from home. i want to get some back drops and spread some fliers around. what equipments do you think i should buy?
is there any online resources for that?

I don't know where you are. Please specify. if you are in US, there are too many studios around that I don't think you'll do well. You are better off advertising as a freelance photographer who does everything.
