I notice that properity tends to make nations depart from God, and Europe seems to be validating this.

Well, I think this is a blanket question...in other words, lumping everything under one assumption. No, I don't think Europe is Godless or becoming more so. I have family in Europe who are quite religious but NOT dogmatic. There is a huge difference there...And not all of Europe is wealthy etc. It's just like the US or any other country in terms of people and attitudes. We all vary in our scale of moderate to extreme thinking.

I would think propriety would actually reestablish and keep people connected with old ways/thoughts/beliefs. I know a lot of people who are very polite and obliging when around extremely vocal Fundamentalist Church people. Sometimes, being polite is actually a bad thing...I guess that's how I feel about a lot of Americans, actually. We're too polite and conformity to prevailing customs and usages is heavy handed esp. in rural/small towns.

So, no I don't think Europe is becoming increasingly Godless.

I think it comes down to the fact that they have had centuries dealing with religion, good and bad. Religious extremism, the Inquisition, and what not can change people's opinions on religion. Many European countries have state sponsored churches. The main problem there is the fact that they water down so much of it to make it attractive to as many people as possible, so no one feels a personal connection to god, hence no one goes.

I just read a number of articles on that topic, and they also attribute the fall in church attendance to prosperity. I don't think that people don't believe in God any longer, they just no longer attend church. I'm glad to see that religion no longer has a power full grasp on European governments. I can't wait until it happens here in the states. I don't believe church dogma should be law.

It's also why Europe is becoming increasingly wealthy. Religion = ignorance = poverty.
