Well, I was going to swoop in here and give you the right answer, but Icarus and Penphone already nailed it. Not that I think for a second that anyone is going to accept the truth on this one...

Emotions, like all experience, are a sweet blend of physical and spiritual. Sight involves a physical process with the eyes, retina and brain. But the experience of seeing exists and does not occupy space or have physical substance. Everything that is seen is contained within seeing. This is spiritual. Emotions are no different. Being is the interaction of the physical and the spiritual.

It's both I think, you need part of both physical and spiritual aspects to fully feel or understand love, joy, and peace or anything for that matter. And depending on how far you are in your spiritual development you will either see it as mostly physical if you are not quite there yet and mostly spiritual if you are really far along, I believe that once you have completed your juorney you will see that it as both though. Hope I've been heplful. :) xoxo....Rachel...xoxo

there has been a study done on the effects of chocolate. choc. does produce the effects of what a love affair does for the body. the body produces hormonesot's own. sochoc. produces the hormones. that is why choc. is prefered by woman. pease is just a state of mind a preference so to speak. joy iis more along the lines of love but not as strong.

Nothing more than electrical and chemical movements in the brain. They can be measured and created artificially. Nothing is spiritual. It's a word for people who don't understand what's actually happening.
There's also no such thing as a "Higher level of consciousness". It's an American buzz word. Means absolutely nothing.

They are mental states, the result of electrical and chemical activity in the brain. This is demonstrably true - The link between activity in the brain and mental experiences and behaviour can be proven in both directions, i.e. by observing that changes to the brain result in changes in mental states, and by observing that particular mental states are correlated with particular activity in the brain.
The idea that emotions are 'spiritual' rather than physical brain states is pure fantasy.

Whereas it is true that emotions are the result of chemicals within the brain, I like to think there is more to us than that. Reality being purely perceptual, since it FEELS spiritual to me, I believe it IS spiritual. These are emotions that transcend us to a higher level of consciousness. They are the beautiful parts of being human.
