is he really so petty? It is far from obvious that he exists - many deep thinkers like Hume and Epicurus have thought it doubtful that he exists. There is no evidence that god exists - and certainly no evidence any particular religion is worshipping the correct god.
Surley there are grater sins than disbelief in something. Isn't child abuse a greater sin than atheism? And yet child abusers are welcomed into heaven. All they have to do is accept jsus. They do not even need to seek the forgiveness of those they abused (provided they did not kill them as they abused them).
It is such a sick belief system full of so many logical inconsistencies. I am glad i am not a christian.

Well, sorry if I offend u but u lack sufficient research and a open heart. How'd u feel if someone u love with all ur heart doesn't believe u exist?
Accepting Jesus is a life changing experience. You become a different person. Child abusers for example, once they give their life to christ will not feel comfortable till they seek the forgiveness of whoever they've hurt. Accepting Christ affects your whole being. If u don't, u are still bound to sin but in christ, u are free.

All sins are equal, with one exception, sin against the Holy Spirit, which is what happens when someone excepts the Holy Spirit, than commits willful sin believing they are forgiven. Jesus said that the sin against the Holy Spirit is without forgiveness. As for being petty or not, once you die, you will be resurrected. Whether it is to everlasting life on earth or to judgment depends on what is in your heart, not just what you made of your life.
As for the belief system, I rather doubt you have thoroughly studied every system type of belief system there is. Jesus said there would be many who claimed to speak in his name, but only a few who actually follow his teachings.
Take the time to learn the different beliefs, than you may be able to judge.

Great diatribe disguised as a question.
So if you don't believe God exists, what are you so worked up about? If that is what you believe, you are your own moral intepreter, and as such, you should not feel compelled by anyone else's opinion about you. What you say, goes. Just who are you trying to convince? Your whole statement totally invalidates the qeustion. Your logic is very skewed.
God is saddened that you don't believe in Him. Where do you get that he's angry (again, it's a nonsensical question if you truly don't believe he's real)?

It never ceases to suprise,that so many people who would like to consider themselves as intelligent and educated ,still read and spout religion at every possible opportunity,always of course in the self righteous belief that their "god" has told them and the world " that which is right and proper".
Religion was born in the early days of mankind as an upgrade to paganism and lawlessness in order to frighten the bad and give succor to the good,now of course it has been superseded by organised law and order.
One thing we can all be certain of is that every living thing on this planet will die and be replaced no matter what the belief.

God does not get mad. Would your mother get mad at you if you did not believe she is your mom. of course your can believe whatever your want but that doesn't change what is true. your mom would be your mom even if you did not believe she is. God doesn't need us to believe in him because He is omnipotent and all power full. who are we to question God. We are only "the work or his hands" and the greatest sin is not believe or love God from who all good comes. there would be no child abuse if the abuser truly!!! believe in God . his love for God would stop him from hurting another person. Being a Cristian is not that bad.

Why does it matter what you believe. God will not know you on the last day, there will be no place prepared for you. Believing isn't enough. The devil believes.
You fail to realize that we are all sinners and all damned to hell , God in his mercy has provided a way to save a remnant of this world. In doing so , he has placed a desire in our hearts to seek him out, Those are the chosen. It hardly makes him petty not to choose you.

He wont be angry because you dont believe in His existence, If you dont acknowledge Him, then dont be surprised when you die He doesnt acknowledge you. As for child abusers being welcomed into heaven, Jesus said "Whoever hurts one of these little ones, it would be better if that man was never born." So I dont know where you got the idea that they are welcomed into heaven.
