In math a word question or a word problem is a mathematical question that requires an answer. However, instead of using all numbers you are given a paragrapg to read instead of just numbers. This is usually done to make you think about which information is necessary to solve the problem. For example,

There are three chickens, two of them lay an egg once a day for a week, how many eggs will there be in one week?

The answer is 14, you do not need to know there are three chickens because only two lay eggs. In numbers this simply could have been wriiten: 2 x 7=14.
That is an example of a word question.
