If you have to go to school in a far off distant village, why bother? Be homeschooled. By the time you go to school, get home and do your homework, you don't have time for anything else. It seems like all you do is go to school and sleep. There's no time for sports, dating or any extra curricular activities, because you spend so much time on the road.

Home schooling is neither better than nor worse than going to school. It is a choice between two educational philosophies. Not every parent can successfully home school, nor would they want to. There are often very valid reasons why a parent should not take on home schooling. And, in many cases, it is not an option because the parents are at work, and not available to home school. Not every student enjoys home schooling. Some thrive on the individual attention, others don't. And even in far off distant villages, they likely have schools.
So your question doesn't really have an easy answer. It has to be judged on an individual basis.

There are pros and cons to each.

To go off to a distant place means leaving all that is familiar behind and having to adjust and make new friends.

It can be a real adventure and if the school has good teachers (and you want to learn), you can benefit greatly.

Home schooling in the sense of being taught at home and not in a regular school can be a very good experience if done properly. If the person teaching is good at that, your educational needs will be met, however you will not have the interaction of being with your peers. In this case it is important for other types of peer interaction in the village.

Home schooling in the sense of going to school in the home village school can be a very rewarding experience if there are good teachers.

The outcome of any educational opportunities depends on the quality of the teachers and the willingness of the student. Any of the above named types can be good or not so good and it is important to evaluate each situation before deciding.

Your question is actually a bit unclear because of the parentheses and the plural 'villages'. Would the person in question have to go off to a distant village for school or is it someone who lives in a distant village and there's no school or there is a school? And whereabouts in the world are we talking?

Whether homeschooling is better or not depends on a lot of factors. If you did mean about having to go off to a distant village for school, it seems pointless to me to go if the parents are capable of teaching their children.

Home schooling can be a blessing if your child has other kids to play with for free times, Australia has a school of the air, which we used in South Africa, we had a genarator, lop top, and a 300 mile back yard, to go to the shops took two days, so home school or no school, some people we know use it in china, as schooling there is not an option for westeners.
Hope this helps

PS: Kids need to play with other, not just go to school.

It's a good choice sometimes...but only if the child being homeschooled gets plenty of socialization. A lot of homeschooled kids don't see a lot of other kids their own age and come out smart, but a little socially underdeveloped. I'm an only child and was homeschooled for all of middle and high school. College was hard for a bit until i figgured out how to interact with the other students...and i'm still a bit selfish and withdrawn.
