It's pretty sickening, isn't it? Avoid TV altogether. Occasionally read newspapers and pop magazines only to see where the group mind is. And, gorge on professional journals, especially science, tech, manufacturing and health care. Don't waste energy on "fighting the corporate-owned right-wing media" because it is and always has been "buyer beware." Spend extra energy on keeping YOURSELF as well-informed as possible. Remember to "follow the buck". Scope out trade agreements, World Court actions, the World Health Organization's website (daily), Congressional Record, financial markets, and where money is going for research.

Oh boy ... reading the answers you have here tells me that everyone is clueless on this. I use to be in broadcasting (radio). These corporations are amoral, and apolitical. The programing is based on the demographics for a given region. They draw the listener in so they can pitch the client's product. Some regions the broadcast are left biased, in some area they are right biased, and it is based on the demographics of the region based on Arbitron ratings of who is listening and what share of the market the station has. If you really want to get rid of this bias then you have to demand that the FCC reinstate the fairness doctrine.

We need to start using the repubes own dirty trix on them.
Boycott FOX and ultraconservative publications and threaten to boycott all their sponsors. Write to those sponsors and let them know you'll not buy their products anymore. Start mailing lists and petitions. Make up about thirty different email addresses and pseudonyms apiece and bombard and super-saturate FOX's and ultraconservative publications' websites with boycott threats against their biggest individual sponsors, and specify them. Let them know you've already been in contact with their largest sponsors.
Hit them in the cash-cow and they'll roll right over. That's the only thing they live for, so it's a kick in the balls. There are far more of us than them, so it's our CIVIC DUTY to take our Country back. We ARE still a democracy, not a fascist/imperialist state.
YET.

If you are old enough VOTE against those that you disagree with. And please don't vote for the lesser of two evils!!! That's how the puppet in the White House got elected.Vote for someone you believe in.Email the sponsors of the media that you dislike and tell them that you will not buy their products because they advertise in that media.Join and volunteer for a group that supports the causes you want.. "PROTEST"The list is endless of the things that you can do. The main thing is to do something..

Obviously the best way is to stop watching their TV stations, reading their newspapers etc. You could set up your own media giant haha!
I think they are slowly going to get eroded anyway because of the net unless they can manage to control us on here too so the best way might be to fight for the freedom of the internet...

Proud Republican above is a total moron. The media is clearly right-wing, pro-president because they withhold criticism of the president and the Republican party. The war in Iraq is extremely unpopular according to all polls and the media still says that's a good thing for Republicans to campaign on.
Also, Ann Coulter, who even Republicans should be ashamed of, gets multiple visits on MSNBC, despite her hateful, unproductive lies and speculation. No one from the Democratic party could EVER get that media coverage.
Anyway, fight it through alternate media, primarily the internet. And keep writing to the media, questioning their bias.

Other than Fox News (which I'll grant you has a right-wing slant) EVERY other media outlet has a distinct and obvious liberal bias.
Thats why they are reporting the way they are. You can't go an hour without them creating another criticism of Bush.
And Hollywood? Don't get me started......

Sadly we don't. Those who own the television news own the world. They can manipulate, coerce, and lie with very positive results from us. People believe what they hear on the tube and read in the paper without any reservations and there seems to be nothing we can do about it except write our little questions and answers here on the net. If they read it here they think its a lie.
