Allah is Arabic word, firstly used in the Quran, signifying the Only True God. But people in other areas falsely understand Him as saint Allah, the god of the Muslims only.
God also means the One True God in the West, but the word has been used in the translations of the Bible, so many non-Christians also think that He is some creator of the Christians only.
And the big problem is that the followers of these two religions claim that only their Allah or God is supreme God, and denying the God mentioned in other religions!
Baha'u'llah, the most recent Messenger of God, confirms that the God mentioned in all world religions is the One True God, Creator of all the worlds.
The reason people see the diffrence because religions have been established in various regions, at various times and using different languages. Now, if we objectively study the religions we will realize that there are no gods higher than the One True God Whom the Messengers preached and worshipped.
You can read the convincing explanation of Baha'u'llah in His Holy Book entitled "the Book of Certitude" at Gutenberg Project.

God and Allah are two different words which may mean the same thing but there is a problem in the word God. People tend to play mischeif with this word like add an "dess" it becomes a female God and so on.
Allah is a name which the All Mighty Creator has chosen for himself. I have no objection in calling him God when preaching to non-muslims because it's what they are used to. Christians and Muslims worship the same God but the problem with Christians is that they believe that Prophet Jesus as a son of god and inturn God himself.
These are the traits of a God, that have come in the Glorious Qur'an Surah Al-Ikhlas chapter 112;
He is Allah, the One and Only!
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.

Allah is the God of the Islamic Religion. God is the Allah of the Christian faiths. fundamentally they are as different as your father is from mine. Both are fathers, we've even called them the same thing at times of our life but there are many differences in their teachings and attitudes. Much the same for God and Allah.

"Allah" is the Arabic pronunciation for God. Arabic speaking people of varying monotheistic religions ranging from Muslims to Christians refer to God as Allah. Outside the Arabic speaking world, people associate Allah with Islam. Since Islam and Christianity are fundamentally different, people ignorant to Arabic will more or less associate "Allah" with Islam without knowing that the word "Allah" means "God" to Arabic speaking people.

God is God, no matter the Name.
Religion is man-made (the word, religion, is Latin), and anything man makes is corrupted to the idealism to those that control the Religion. Basically, "My stick is bigger than your Stick."
The 3 major Religions: Islamic/Muslim, Hebraic and Christianity stem from the same root. Christianity and Islamic/Muslim are the new kids on the block.
Hebraic may stem from older religions, including Egyptian origins and moshed together by the elders of those times.
Christianity is a mix of Hebraic, Paul-ism, Paganism. And, modern Christianity has it's roots in Rome, not Israel.
Even Christianity had it's versions of Terrorism in the Past:
The Purge of the 1st and 2nd Centuries of the Greek and Egyptian deities. These tended to be very violent and bloody.
The Crusades. Where most of Europe went to the Middle East to take over both the Muslims and Hebraic relics and artifacts. Including taking these artifacts away from the Hebrews.
The Holy Inquisition. Where in Spain and parts of France the Inquisitionors would falsely accuse, imprison and torture those that didn't believe as they.
And the "forced" conversion to Christianity by those called "missionaries." Many times in the past, Missionaries would use unChristian methods to force Aborigines, tribes and other non-European cultures to convert to Christianity.
Even today, there are many Christians that have the mentality of, "My way or no way." Especially many of the TV Evangelists.
And the Newest of the three religions: Islamic, is taken from the Old Testament and has a bit of older Persian/Arabic traditions. The early Muslims WERE NOT as blood thirsty as today's Muslims. When the Early Muslims conquered most of the early Christian Nations (Spain, Egypt, Greece, Italy, etc), they allowed Christian to be Christian as long as the Christian only believed in One God and not the Trinity. AND, the early Muslims allowed ANYONE that believed in only a Single God to study at the Universities the Muslims established and taught. Christianity would only allowed those that would become clerics or the nobility to become learned in those early days.
The Trinity, itself, comes from the religions pre-dating Hebrew religion. Including the religion practiced in ancient Egyptian and India. Many religions prior to Christianity had a Trinity.

Some of the biggest misconceptions that many non-Muslims have about Islam have to do with the word "Allah". Many people have come to believe that Muslims worship a different God than Christians and Jews.
This is totally false.
Islam is the complete submission and obedience to Allah (God). The name Allah (God) in Islam never refers to Muhammad (peace be upon him), as many Christians may think; Allah is the personal name of God.
By what name do we call God?
The Muslims prefer calling the Supreme Creator, 'Allah', instead of the English word ‘God’. The Arabic word, ‘Allah’, is pure and unique, unlike the English word ‘God’, which can be played around with.
For example, If you add ‘s’ to the word God, it becomes ‘Gods’, that is the plural of God. Allah is one and singular, there is no plural of Allah. If you add ‘dess’ to the word God, it becomes ‘Goddess’ that is a female God. There is nothing like male Allah or female Allah. Allah has no gender. If you add the word ‘father’ to ‘God’ it becomes ‘God-father’. God-father means someone who is a guardian. There is no word like ‘Allah-father’. If you add the word ‘mother’ to ‘God’, it becomes ‘God-mother’. There is nothing like ‘Allah-mother’ in Islam.
Allah is a unique word, which does not conjure up any mental picture nor can it be played around with. Therefore the Muslims prefer using the Arabic word ‘Allah’ for the Almighty.
Unity of God.
Some say that the existence of more than one God is not illogical. Let us point out to them that if there were more than one God, they would dispute with one another, each god trying to fulfill his will against the will of the other gods. This can be seen in the mythology of the polytheistic and pantheistic religions.
If a ‘God’ is defeated or unable to defeat the others, he is surely not the one true God. Also popular among polytheistic religions is the idea of many Gods, each having different responsibilities. Each one would be responsible for a part of man’s existence e.g. a Sun-God, a Rain-God, etc. This indicates that one ‘God’ is incompetent of certain acts and moreover he is also ignorant of the other Gods’ powers, duties, functions and responsibilities. There cannot be an ignorant and incapable God. If there were more than one God it would surely lead to confusion, disorder, chaos and destruction in the universe. But the universe is in complete harmony. The Glorious Qur’an says: «"If there were, in the heavens and the earth, other gods besides Allah, there would have been confusion in both! But glory to Allah, The Lord of the Throne: (High is He) above what they attribute to Him!" »[Al-Qur’an 21:22]
If there were more than one God, they would have taken away what they created. The Qur’an says: «"No son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with Him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! Glory to Allah! (He is free)from the (sort of) things yhey attribute to Him!" »[Al-Qur’an 23:91]
Thus the existence of one True, Unique, Supreme, Almighty God, is the only logical concept of God.
The Qur’an gives no less than ninety-nine different attributes to Almighty Allah. The Qur’an refers to Allah as Ar-Rahman (Most Gracious), Ar-Raheem (Most Merciful) and Al-Hakeem (All Wise) among many other names.

I am A Roman Catholic, but I believe that Allah and God is one. The only difference is that, people discriminate other religions... They are both the God... People should not think of differences, they should think of unity and faith to what they believe in.

Allah ( Ilah ) is the name for God in Aramaic the language that Jesus spoke.
Jesus never prayed to God or even referred to God using any word but Allah.
People who say that Allah is a false God do not know what they are talking about, and they are most certainly not following the true teachings of Jesus.
There is one God but She ahs as many names as their languages.
Love and blessings.

I have often thought about it like Allah means God in another language, no difference in meaning though. example would be like "Hola" and "Hello" But Allah is the "God" of the Koran and just "God" would be the God of the Christian Bible
dont know that Im right, that is just how I look at it.
