when i speak about mediumship etc im always greeted with the same responses .. that they are fake , they cold read , have learned how to read faces and expressions etc
but when reading on the internet with no expressions to take lead from , and you give factual information about a deceased person , including names dates , descriptions and other personal information ...
besides the usual answers .. that it is from demons ..
does anyone else has other views on how this may be achieved ?

the site i work on does not allow personal information to be spoken about in the rooms .. thus lessening the chances of anyone using the information in a reading
we are not allowed to feed the reader and encourage only yes or no answers ( if that helps you )

Glad to see you decided to post a question. I have no other views on this. I am an extremely skeptical person when it comes to it. Sometimes it even scares me that things like this can be done, tarot, oiji, palm readers, spirit mediums etc. I don't know.
I think it is interesting, but I want proof. I will not rule it out as there is a niggling in the back of my head that asks "how did you know that".
I suppose, what I am trying to say is that, based on scientific research into how people use their brains, it has been found that we use less than half of our brain and its full capability is unknown. Whose to say you don't in fact use one part of your brain that alot of people don't know how to use. You may be extremely astute, or have a hyper sensitvity towards changes/presences/ voices. I can't judge. I find it incredibly interesting and I wish I knew more about what you see/feel/hear rather than trying to get to the bottom of 'how you do it'.

Again, it is a combination of cold reading and Barnum statements.
Cold reading does not mean reading body language, or picking up clues from appearance (although that can help a reader)
It is a way of fishing for information, asking leading questions, trying out ideas, making trial and error guesses and feeding the results back without the participant realising that they have been providing the information.
Barnum statements are statements that sound precise and unique, but are infact very vauge and ambiguous, so that the reciepient can 'retrofit' them to apply to themselves as an individual. Most of us believe we are more unique than we really are.
It would be interesting if you could provide an actual transcript, with both sides of the corespondance, of a reading that you have found impressive.
And don't forget, there is hot reading, or just basic cheating. For example, I'm getting a strong sence that there is a D? I'm getting a D that I want to place close to you. Male I think? Don? Dean? Very close to you...A partner. a younger partner?
There are also female presences...Siblings? Children? More than one, but I'm getting one very strongly, one in particular, a Kate? Kat? Can I place that next to you and Dean?
And so on!
Wow, I've just read down the page - you're getting messages from Queen Victoria - now, that IS impressive! Lol! Yes - good 360, better than mine.

Cant be much help, but I do find it difficult to believe these people who look into such things and come up with fairly 'accurate' information...............if they genuinely have never known the person that they are providing information about , how do they do it? It would be nice to be convinced of a 'here after life' but as no one has ever come back to explain it, then if such a thing does exist it must certainly be so much better than here since no one has chosen to stay here (if that makes sense !) Cant get convinced by such people as Derek Ocorah when he is 'ghost' hunting or by the mediums who appear on TV and get a feeling about Auny Dorothy & lo & behold there is someone in the audience with such an aunt .........

Are you looking for a scientific answer? There isnt one. Its just something you FEEL.
I'm quite a rational, analytical person but I also have an open mind. I've had some strange things happen to me-seeing/hearing/sensing ghosts when other people cant see/hear/feel them, a strong sense of dejavu, and being quite instinctive when it comes to people especially.
Last year I had my aura analysed and it indicated that I was psychic and the analysted recommended that I have my abilitied honed (apparently there are courses for such things). A few months ago I was speaking to a medium and she 'sensed' that I had some abilities.
I accept the fact that I have strong intuition, but my rational, sceptical mind has discouraged me from pursuing this any further. Perhaps I should develop my abilities and make some money off it. :-p

There is no proof. If I were incarnated could I prove that I lived before? I could recite the complete history and show nothing to prove it. I might be able to describe places or people still living but that proves nothing...perhaps I am good at telepathy. On the internet is more suspicious as they do have access to many resources. People tend to generalize their questions and with a bit of pumping by the pyschic, provide data for such answers. Fortune-tellers have been giving 'feel good' answers for thousands of years. Houdini was at one time a great spiritualist after his mother passed on, and became friendly with Sir Arthur Connan Doyle who was also deeply in spiritualism, but Houdini broke away as he found most mediums were fraudulent and spent the rest of his life debunking them. Either you believe or disbelieve, but don't become a cripple and let spirituality control your life.

You can read from the Bible in Ecclesiastes 9:5-6:
5. For the living know that they will die, but the dead don't know anything, neither do they have any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
6. Also their love, their hatred, and their envy has perished long ago; neither have they any more a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.
If a person died, he will not roam around as others told, nor they can have their revenge since their hate are no more. Just remember that satan is a deceiver and can turn or disguise as angel of light.

Mediumship is very natural, something we all have to a greater or lesser degree. It certainly isn't linking with the devil, demons or whatever. When I am giving a reading (from spirit) I tend to get pictures in my head of what they looked like on the physical plain (clairvoyance), and I "feel" information (clairsentience), for example if they passed over with a stroke, one side of my body may go numb, over times I just "know" stuff (clairknowing). I have done a few readings over the net, but usually it's face to face. Having said that even then I'm not usually looking straight at them, usually somewhere over their shoulder in the distance.
It's not "cold reading" how could I cold read that the stranger sat in front of me has a sister in spirit who passed with lung cancer and want's to remind them of the time they had together and loved they shared? And the stuff that Derren Brown does is nothing in comparison to what gifted mediums can do. I know of one medium who offered to work alongside him, on the condition that neither of them know anything about who is in the audience, Derren Brown hasn'tyet taken him up on the offer.......
How readings work over the net, phone and letter is that at the end of the day the medium is only the middle man, Spirit know exactly who they want to get in contact with. And distance dose not mean anything in the spirit world.......

Even without visual clues, I think it is quite easy to convince somebody they are being communicated to. If you give them loads of information (especially vague things), some of it is bound to be pertinent. Those who wish to contact deceased relatives are often grieving and desperately want to get something back, so will often emphasise the bits that suit their needs.
Please don't think that I'm saying mediums are all fakers; I'm sure that there is something there for a small number of people. There are, however, too many people who want to be mediums or see it as a means to make money, which affects my faith in the whole process.

As a very spiritual person, I go to our local spiritualist church on a regular basis were I have seen some really good spiritual mediums, only last week a lady was in the crowd and was given a message by the medium, she sat in awe listening, cried and thanked the medium for her help and comfort, what I just could not believe once the service was over, was that same lady sat and laughed with her friend and said, 'was she crap or what, like I am going to believe my mothers spirit would come to her and not me,' why say thank you then poo poo the medium, I just see people like that as silly, they want answers, eventually gt them then poo poo the medium for giving them what they want, maybe a lot of people are just like that woman was last week and think if a loved one has a message to give then it should be direct and not through a spiritual medium, but it doesn't work like that, spirits have a channel they use and they are the ones choosen to pass that message on, I 'see' things myself, plucked up the courage to tell these things and then got called a wacko for doing it, the funny thing is when they did eventually realise I had been giving them proof they suddenly wanted all sorts of answers off me, just wish they would understand it really doesn't work like that, spirit has to want to come through and cannot be forced, you just carry on the good you are doing and if people don't want to believe then its their choice, maybe if they took the blinkers off ocassionally they would understand a little better themselves.

these type of forums are usually so vague that they can apply to most people, Derren Brown did an experiment on TV and read several people .He then gave them all personal reading which they proclaimed was just what they were like and had their dreams aspirations etc. The clincher was ll the statements were exactly the same.
However if this type of things works for some people and they want to pursue it where is the harm and who is to say that is is not true?
