I always seem to dwell on things such as relationship, money issues and everday problems. What can I do to stop this?

i used to be like you. i still am, but to a lesser degree.

i used to be so busy when i was a kid-- i hardly worried about anything because i never had time to worry. my routine was to go to school, go home, do homework, watch TV or play, then sleep. life was so simple as a student.

when i started working, things were so exciting. and tiring. i had to get up early, do my best at work, have a good schedule so i can still squeeze in time for socials and family-- i needed to be whole.

when i got married and was forced to stay home for more than 10 years, things drastically changed. im not used to being idle. as i took care of my kid, my mind would wander off to so many things. as days and months passed, i found myself going deeper and deeper into certain thoughts that i shouldn't be thinking about out of boredom. i became a worrier. my mind was craving for an activity beyond the challenges of motherhood and it found a nasty habit: worrying. i became the number one worrier in the family that bordered on obsession-- checking lights twice, doors locked, getting jumpy-- it wasn't a pretty situation.

i went back to the university and things slowly changed. i worried less. i went back to work and the needless obsessive worrying stopped. why? i had no time to worry again! my mind found answers to its craving-- a purposeful activity.

if your mind is as active as mine, try assessing yourself: what do you need? what do you want? you need to know WHY you are acting the way you are. there must be a deep seated reason why you are worrying that you need to come to terms with. mine was boredom.

if you're a prayerful person, try meditating. ask God in prayer to help you find the answers to your questions. it's what i did. try journeying within you. the answer lies deep within yourself.

God bless you!

Dwell On Things

There's many ways. One way is the keep yourself busy with other things, another is to just try not to worry about it and think of other things. From what I can tell some people have to force themselves not to dwell on things while others just naturally dont worry about things they can do nothing about in the moment they're in.

Talk to a professional counselor. Also take out a piece of paper for each issue and make a Can do/Can't do list. Write down under Can do - what you CAN DO about each thing. Under the Can't do - write down what you CANNOT DO about each thing. Once you realize what you can indeed do - start doing it. If you find you cannot do anything about a situation - then let go of it!

are you alone? I have a tendency to let these everday issues get to me, but you know what, its all a part of life.. some of us take things more seriously than others, when your surrounded by those who are friendly, easy to talk too than you'll find you will be too.. Good Luck..

My worst time is at bedtime, I lay there worring about stuff can't sleep feel worse. Peace of mind is the only way to stop worring. Whatever it takes to get peace of mind. Mine was to find a good job and pay bills. Just got the job.........can sleep now

i am like that, too. excercise helps a lot, vigorous excercise especially. prayer helps if you believe in God. wrtie your worries down in a journal. also, talk to your doctor and see if you are developing something.

all the best
