Some times they will give a slight growl first as well. Pay attention to dogs and respect their space. Every one has limits. Also, just an FYI most ( I say most ) small dogs will not give warning before they bite. Larger dogs almost (again, I say almost) always show atleast 1 sign.

Actually, my observation is that a dog will rarely bark just before s/he bites - but s/he will growl a specific growl that is an immediate "back-off" signal (and unless you want some bad experience, you should mind it).
No, I don't think they bark before they bite. But barking _is_ a sound to alarm the potential enemy, and chase him away, if possible - also to alert their owner for tresspassers.

They don't all bark first. Barking is warning you to back off. Some dogs don't give warnings.

they like running behind and then biting.
they simply have thrill in it.
