First of all- he is not sure you love him.
So what gave him that impression? Are you distant with him? Do you give him the cold shoulder when he tries to show you affection.
Second- why don't you try talking to him instead of instantly jumping to the conclusion of trying to dump him.
I had a girlfriend who was affectionate but not in public. One night out of the blue she dumps me. Why I'm still yet to find out!
Give the lad a chance!

i don't think men and women are the same in this matter. i think women take a break up so much harder because of the amount they invest in the relationship to begin with. guys on the other hand have different objectives for the relationship, (sex and ego strengthening). we want to feel like we are the "man". some are looking for their life-long partner but most are not. that being said the one think that would probably hurt the most is if the relationship had to end because of some ego deficiency and you tell him, (not hitting it in bed, or another man). these may be the reasons and of course you will have to decide if you want to tell him. personally, i would want to know if i were doing, (or not doing) something that maybe most girls like or dislike. i wouldn't want to continue bad habits. there must be a reason why you want to break up with him so i would say make it a learning experience for him, that would show you care about his feelings. cause ultimately, he and you are just going to find someone new to bang.

Make sure you end it right away. Dragging thisngs along is worse. If he's not sure you love him, tell him he is right. You thought you had some feelings for him, but through time, you realised you were wrong. It happens, don't berate yourelf too much. That's part of life. I think he would appreciate your honesty in this one. Go on, do it, before the guy gets to attached to you and then you're in a much worse situation...

the mere fact that you want to break up with him can already give him a heartache. you cannot expect someone to be happy after hearing a bad news, don't you think so?
well, don't make it too hard on him by making him believe that your relationship is still working. be honest no matter how difficult it may be. tell him frankly and apologize. more importantly, don't forget to thank him.
don't make things worse by going on with your relationship despite the fact that you wanna end it. be honest and be fair.
good luck!

It may hurt his feelings, but if you don't want to be with him anymore, I don't see any other options, do you? Besides, he'll get over it in no time. Guys just move on to the next one.

Can't be done. Gonna hurt. Be open and honest about why and be sensitive when you tell him. It'll hurt more if you delay it though, so get it done.

You can't. You tell him what you want based on what you want and that's that. If his feelings are hurt then so be it.
