He has got this disease 2 years ago. At the beginning, he felt pain at his lower back. Day by day, the pain increased more and more. He got too painful and had tingling felling on his right shoulder, at the same time, muscles of his right arm were shaking alot. He could not sleep because he had to go to restroom 4,5 time a night. After 2 years, the pain is gone but his both arms are so weak and small. He can't hold the metal spoon! The muscle on right shouder is gone! If you know anything about this disease, please share with me ASAP. Thank you.

STEPHEN HAWKING is suffering from that disease. He uses electronic voice modulator,a specially built rest chair with wheels and a nurse in constant attendance. Lesser mortals have to put up with it. Nursing care is the only care.
Hawking is an atheist but others pray.

i am sure you can find much on it..but few things...i thought it would help you
its a degenerative disease.meaning..there is no return....and its progressive. but it takes long duration..to get to that point.
there are many reasons ..and familial is one...but than it could be sporadic

treatment ...
> out patient initially ,may ultimately need nursing home or hospice
>supportive care...for the complicating emergencies ,like aspiration ,respiratory failure.
other wise...there is no know medication that can help

Have you tried looking at http://www.mdausa.org? I have Congenital Muscular Dystrophy and MDA has helped me a lot,you can go to a MDA Clinic and help your friend. Hope this helps you!!!!!!!!!
