It seems that the government refuses to make a solid stance. They haven't given amnesty, but they haven't beefed up their anti-immigration stance... in other words, all they've done is put up policies which piss off both extremist wings.
So, I have a question for all of you who must absolutely, unequivocably have illegal immigrants stopped.
What are you going to do?
What CAN you do?
All I see anyone doing is complaining..... that and half-àssed self-organization attempts..... but what plan do you people have to secure over 2500 miles of border... and then to hunt down the millions of illegals already here?
I mean is anyone going to personally doing anything about it?
So far as I can tell, just like with all of the hotbutton issues in the past 20 years, nothing's being done about anything either way.
If you want illegals gone, how come you're not out right now, taking them from their homes and deporting them yourself?

Hmm... no one's answered my question seriously.
As for details, I guess I'll make it obvious that I'm talking about immigrants crossing over the southern border of the United States.
The actual truth is that a large share of people actually get legal visas, and then overstay them illegally.
And before you go and attack me personally, this is not an attack on any sort of attack on anyone. I'm thinking a lot of you took this is a statement, as an attack, instead of as a valid question.
I see a lot of people whining and complaining about illegal immigration, but nobody actually doing anything about it.
I'm sympathetic to the plight that southern-border hoppers face, as my parents came to this country that way, and still to this day face loads of racism, even though they've been naturalized now for over 20 years.
As far as I can tell, all I'm getting are people who are indirectly agreeing with my unsaid notions, but no direct answers.
I guess no one has a direct, personal plan.

The illegal immigration problem was handled quite successfully in 1954, then along came a president from Texas and reversed all that good work (L.B.J.) Do you think that is a trend with presidents from Texas?

I will give you a very direct answer. It is illegal for the common citizen to do anything about the illegals that are here. You try to deport them yourself and you will end up in jail. If we had some lawmakers with any courage to stand up for what is right, we would have some laws in place and the power behind it to get the laws enforced. Make a law that anyone that comes up on an illegal has the right to shoot him on sight. Make an open season on any illegal. But make it where if you do anything to a legal one that you do pay for your mistake too. I am not against the legal ones, only the lawbreakers. Put the illegals in jail and make the either work their way through via chain gangs with lots of labor since that is what they say they want, or the just don't eat. Give them no amenities and no rights whatever as they are nothing but lawbreakers. Put sharpshooters on the borders and put a bounty on any that would try to cross the border. So much per head for those that would break our laws and try to come in the wrong way. If it were legal for me to do so, I would be out rousting the illegals out and deporting them or just shooting them on sight. Is that straight enough for you?

Actually, there is currently a bill before one or more counties to limit the bidding on county contracts to only those contractors who employ legal workers. There are millions (perhaps billions) of dollars at stake - the current atmosphere of giving contracts to the lowest bidder is a big part of the problem - BUT, this could cause a large increase in project costs - truly a Damocles Sword for the taxpayers and workers alike. The whole issue is actually their non-payment of income taxes and social security taxes just like the rest of us, while provision of services (medical, educational, etc.) is being absorbed by the taxpayers. It's a sad commentary that it took a 9/11 and security issues to wake us up.

Well, you sound like you are intelligent, caring person. Why don't you come up with something and stop blaming the people on Yahoo Answers.
COMPLAIN -- COMPLAINING---. That is all I read in your so called question. Maybe your the half -assed person that has attempted ridiculous things for the past 20 years.
If your that upset with life, get the h ell away from the front of your computer and do something about it.
Why don't you just get your gun, Wyatt Earp and go from house to house and determine which are legal and which ones are not.
That way you would be spending less time on here COMPLAINING because no one is doing anything. Go man go. Just use your personal plan and just take care of everything.

Fill the Rio Grande with millions of alligators,( solve the over population of alligators in Florida at the same time ) Shoot down every plane coming in from the south, install mine-fields along the border and build an electric fence 25 feet tall. To deport the ones already here round up all from Mexico, South America, and make them swim the Rio Grande. Or Take over Mexico put them all on welfare and they will be happy to stay there.

Tell the ones being rounded up and sent back that we aren't taking the problem seriously, and are doing nothing.
From CNN:
U.S. authorities arrest 88 illegal immigrants
Special agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have arrested 88 illegal immigrants in the states of Florida and New York, the ICE announced Wednesday.
In Florida, 54 illegal aliens, who provided janitorial services in state government buildings in Tallahassee, the state capital, were arrested last Saturday.
The 54 arrested were from Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala. Two of them faced criminal prosecution for illegally re-entering the country after being deported and one for document fraud.
Twenty-one admitted to being illegally present in the United States and accepted stipulated orders of removal, and their removal from the country was imminent, the ICE said.
The remaining 30 individuals were charged administratively for violating the Immigration and Nationality Act, with 24 remaining in ICE custody and six given orders of supervision because they were either juveniles, or families with young children.
In North Tonawanda, New York, ICE agents arrested 34 illegal aliens Wednesday morning who were working at a farm, the Fortistar Hydroponic Tomato Greenhouse.
These 34 people would be criminally charged and each faced two criminal charges -- use of a fraudulent alien registration card, known as "green card", and false use of a Social Security number. They would also be administratively charged with being illegally present in the United States and would be scheduled for a removal hearing before a federal immigration judge.
The ICE, which was set up in March 2003 as the largest investigative arm of the U.S. Homeland Security Department, has conducted several nationwide operations designed to remove illegal aliens found working at some of the nation's most sensitive worksites, including airports, nuclear power plants, chemical plants and defense facilities.

Nobody of any influence is really concerned with illegal immigrants from Ireland and other Western countries, where people look and act like white Americans. Also, people aren't so much concerned about the Canadian border, although in fact that's where terrorists actually do cross over. And to see how easy that is, look at a Mapquest.com map of Derby Line, Vt. or Vancouver, B.C. where the border runs along the main street.
For the rest, the militia groups have the only answer, and it's an awful one: to shoot to kill, with a near-certainty that every illegal immigrant from the Third World will be shot dead once over the Rio Grande. To the extent that the Rio Grande's northern shore is private land, plowed fields, searchlights and guard towers can assure death to anyone trying to enter -- sort of like the Iron Curtain.
Now, wouldn't that be nice for keeping American kiddies safe in their beds from prowling pedophilic illegals?

There is too much pandering to the Chicano vote by the Politicians to secure the border. They believe that they will lose votes if they secure our country by building infrastructure along the border. Managed immigration is what we need - not a complete stop.
1. secure the border now.
2. actually enforce the immigration laws on the books.
3. enforce the laws that make it a crime to hire illegal aliens.
4. on a case-by-case basis employ amnesty using current guidelines for entry to this country.
Have some huevos. Stand up and take control of your country and enforce the law. It is that simple.

Our government has no back bone to deal with this probelem, i think we should deport them all and make them enter the legal way why should we shoulder the responsibility? there is a rigght way to enter and these people want it handed to them and all the rights that go with being here and they shouldnt. we need to fine the companies who hire them illegally and stop the day laborers as well. No one knows that this is a drain on our economy, the education sysem, the health care system and the hospital;s for all those and the uninsured, this needs to stop. secure better yet close off our borders COMPLETLY AND ALLOW NO MORE ENTRIES IN HERE PERIOD.

First of all, many, if not most, have no intention of becoming citizens. They are taking tax free money back to Maa-hee-co "por la familia y viven como los reyes por todos nos laivz.".....Okay. That makes them simply trespassers....So here's what I think would work real well:
1) Minefields along the Southern AND Northern Borders
2) Killer Satellites with "lazers" (YEAH!!)
3) Armed guards with orders to shoot to kill anyone crossing illegally, for example like China, Turkey, Iran, Korea, etc.

I think is just not the US that need to deal with this problem, for Mexico, is the government that needs to fix this. They need to provide more jobs for the people, stop being so corrupted, and they need to be equal with all the people. You can not get a job if you are 40 and older, cause they will even tell you that you are too old already. Things like this needs to stop so their people will stay where they are.
