Its true!! The more intellectuall they are the less common sense they have!! I know a few like that, their heads are constantly in books and absorbing the clever crap but they don't know anything about the real world!!

I have met so many people at university that are so intelligent it is scary. You may perceive people who have had a university education as stupid, but they will know a hell of a lot more about their discipline than you know.
People from university don't claim to be intelligent, a lot of people at university just work really hard to get a degree (while for an annoying few who are very intelligent university is very easy).
Your problem is that you are equating a university degree with a level of intelligence, and you probably know there are a lot of extremely intelligent people without a degree.
It really does not mean anything, it just makes you look bitter.

Are you writing about PEOPLES "life skills"? If you are then it may be true that many people educated or not educated are lacking in this department.
Now if your writing about a persons ability to use their academic knowledge then that is another story entirely. So did you compare BRAINS with these people at a street smarts level or academic level? Did they speak to you with BIG WORDS?

With intelligence you need the humility to accept you do not know everything. I'm afraid many well educated people become arrogant and talk about things they ae entirely ignorant of.
This is just one example of man not being lead by his reason but by his passions and emotions. I have also known very clever people do very silly things because they are folowing their baser desires .
I believe you call these things the 7 deadly sins. They often rule us in our actions rather than our reason.
There is a lovely passage in Plato's "Republic" when the old man in whose house the dialogue takes part tells his guests that one of the great joys of old age is that he is at last free to use his reason because he is now free from all his "mad masters".

You must have met some of my lecturers LOL we were all sitting in theatre waiting for a lecture on the brain when a lecturer walked in, adjusted the mike and shouted at us 'Right then let us all start" Before telling us that we should really go back to the olden days when student nurses made soup on the wards??? We all looked at her wondering what she was on about and as she kept going on, we told her we were waiting on a lecture on the brain. So she said "You were?" Turned on her mobile phone (Strictly disallowed for us students) chatted on it to then say "Sorry folk it is the right lecture but i'm in the wrong theatre", never mind the lecturer who dropped our essays in the dining hall telling us he was still waiting for them! And never mind another lecturer who told us all to go home because it was the week-end??? We shouldn't be coming in??? It was Friday morning but we all went home LOL
Just as well we had a few better lecturers hey!!!

Because most of them are focused on studing whatever their major course of study may be. Their parents or they themselves push hard to get the grade. This allows little time to notice one's environment that produces common sense. The MA and PhD programs allows the lest amount of time to notice their surroundings. I know this is wordy, I'm tring to be politically correct.

Oh my how green r ur eyes!!! Does it really matter where we r taught these days? We all ave our faults, good n somethings & not so good at others at the end of the day we r all human & i'm sure we all do n say something silly things in our lifetime!!! Mind you dont u find it's mainly the men that do these things!!! Wudn't u agree gals !!!!! He he he.. Mite I also add that I didn,t go 2 uni til my late 20s wen my kids were all at school 2 do my teachers degree & that was because I had no other choice.Hope u all have a gr8 bank hols....

because if your parents pay for you to have any education and all you do is party and cheat or something to pass tests, how the hell are you ever gonna learn anything! There's way too many stupid people who have gone to college or are in college.
