I don't necessarily prefer American beer, do I drink it? Yes, it is what is most available. I prefer my own homebrew first and foremost. I usually brew an Amber Ale or IPA. Canadian beer is ok, I have had most beers produced there with Molson Canadian, Labatt's Blue, and Alexander Keith's being my favorite. I have tried over 400 different beers from around the world. I don't prefer any one beer over another, just depends on the situation.

I always have thought about it this way: it depends on the drinking situation. If it's hot out, and you get an ice-cold mass-produced american lager, it tastes really good. If your taste buds and standards change, then the selection is very large in the States. Try different beers with different foods in different seasons. In the summer (or in Florida, for example) it's tough to knoock down a Guinness when it's 90° outside.
The right drink for the right occassion - that's the key, baby.

American Micro-brews are awesome, Germany makes the best beer though. Canadian beer is good.

I don't care for the taste of beer but will only drink Bud in the bottles. Anything else makes me sick.

I'm stationed in Germany, and I drink German beer. If I'm in the US, then I drink either Lowenbrau or Michelob. I can't stand any Budweiser products, unless it's the original Budwar.

I found a lot of common AMerican beers to be crappy. I havent tried any microbrews, but I like a lot of foreign beers. Corona, Newcastle, Guiness, and any good Hefenweizer is good to me.

American mass-market beer is like making love in a canoe -
they're both f*cking close to water!
Microbrews tend to be good, and I love Anchor Steam, but Bud/Miller/Coors are horrible.

I have been living in the south and Midwest all my life and from my knowledge, American. Specifically Bud, Bud light, Miller lite, and Coors light. I, however, prefer imported dark beers. My fav....Killian's Irish Red! YUMMY
