If someone were to contact you online under different screen names how much information could they put together to locate you at you place of work, local store, or even your home?

I am curious...
I know I don't bother hiding anything online but I wonder about others...
I know that I did as a point of evidence track down someone years ago who was in an internet cafe.... I tracked them down to the cafe and knew what they looked like too... it was too easy to do...

if you were observant... asked round about questions... you could locate just about anyone... it may take several conversations but you could gather all sorts of information bit by bit...
just keep a record of what a person tell you... and you could find out a fair bit..

You tell people as little as possible about you personally, online - that sweet girl with a cute screen name could well be a 50 year old paedophile holding an axe.

My kids don't go online unless I'm sitting with them or *sigh* they're at school. Hopefully they're watched there....
People could figure me out from two of my past online names, but not a one could now unless they're paying really good attention and know me already. They'd have to be stalking me to know who THIS screen name really is.

I talk mostly with my friends online. The other people I don't tell them much and they couldn't find me, no chance! Why do you ask? You have problems with someone you met online?
I don't have kids.
