There is no set time. My husband and I dated a year before we were engaged and we were married a year later. My sister dated 2 weeks got engaged and then 6 months later they were married, Of course she's going through a divorce. And then my other sisster dated 6 years got engaged and married a year later. They are still married. I guess I would suggest a more time than 6 months and 2 weeks.

Court? "Courting" is a Victorian term that does not apply to the 21st Century. If you are asking how long should you be with someone before marriage is logical, then I'd say spend at least one year living with that person. In that time, you will know if that person is right for you. If you are a prude and you choose not to live with someone until you marry, then there's no minimum time. You can marry the same day you meet someone.

It varies hugely. I know people who have got married within a year of beginning a relationship and that are still happily married now. Other people take a much longer time to reach the point of marriage.

It may also depend on life situation. Many people feel that until they are established in a job and can help provide for family life marriage is not an option.
